wat is the difference between the hydro tranny and the cable tranny..meaning performance wise and which would would be better? easier to deal with?

cable shifts via cable and hydro via slave cylinder...if i remember correct, i believe i read someone saying that the cable trannies are a bit stiffer on the clutch...but i never had a cable tranny so i wouldnt know...performace wice, well, depends on if you want short gears or longer gears...look up for the tranny specs

Basically, it's how the clutch is engaged.

In a cable transmission, the clutch is engaged via a cable connected to the clutch pedal.

In a hydraulic transmission, the clutch pedal is connected to your clutch master cylinder which has a clutch fluid reservoir which compresses the fluid into your clutch hardlines, and creates pressure at the clutch slave cylinder, which engages the clutch.

kewl..thanks guys..i'm actually lookin for a b16 tranny..so was just wondering if i should get a cable or hydro..which would would be more reliable..and i've seen mostly people using hydro's..

word....usually the older cars are the ones wth cable trannies...

I've heard that a cable tranny is better for "racing" because it is a direct connection from the pedal to the transmission. I have a cable, because that is what came in my car and to me, compairing it to a hydro you can feel it engage more. They also require a significant amout more effort to push them in. Even if i were building a race car i'd go with the hydro though

Does neone know the pros/cons or if its poss. To convert 90 da with cable to hydro because personally I own both and the hydro is by far superior in throw......shorter and smoother always with no feeling of bind....I've looked at the fender and it doesn't really look like there's enough room for even a 92-95 civic style master cylinder........help would be appreciated

hasport makes a kit im not sure if they have one for the da but they have one for the 88-91 crx's

i'm trying to convert my ef wiht b16 to a hydro tranny..all the cable tranny out there are usually high miles so you dont know what you're going to get. with hydro tranny they will have less miles. the cable tranny feels very notchy and imprecise compared with a hydro tranny

would any one know what you would need to convert cable to hydro in an ef? would you be able to use the same tranny mounts as the cable? would i need to install a master cylinder for clutch or is it integrated with the tranny?
