6-pin, 5-wire fuel sender in an EK?!?
99 Canadian SiR, B16.. did S2K cluster swap. Client finally filled his tank and noticed it was only 1/2 way up.
Okay, wireworx doc suggested adding a 10-50ohm resistor. Only made the level go lower.
According to the sergice manual for the EK and rhe S2000:
S2000 service manual says 11 to 13 ohms full, 52 to 58 ohms 1/2 full, 130 to 132 ohms empty
EK (US built) says 3.5 to 5 ohms full, 29.5 to 35.5 ohms at 1/2 full and 105 to 108 ohms empty.
So the s2000 has slightly more resistance and adding a resistor should work well enough.
So, I decided to check the resistance of the sender in-tank, pulled the cover and..
Wtf ek SiR 6pin 5 wire fuel sender
It's a 6 pin plug with 5 wires *just for the sender*, not 3pin as expected from the service manual (and every other honda I've worked on, I have installed a few fuel pumps in my day, never seen this)
Canadian SiR is ewuivalent to USA Si AFAIK, so.. is this like later obd2 b series thing?
It seems like the info is laid out a bit differently in the s2k service manual (sender specs were in a different section I think?)
Seems like the s2k has a 5 pin plug but calls it the fuel pump plug plug so I assume its combined with the fuelpump.
I didn't measure 5-8v on the sender wire, only like 100mv which was odd..both manuals say I should get 5-8v, maybe I didn't have the best test ground, not sure, as otherwise the gauge is working fine, just reading 1/2 when its full.
Original cluster/gauge worked fine. S2k works but is off, adding resistor makes it even lower. Don't really know the oinout of this 6pin connector (5 wires populated)
And again to clarify, it is not combined with the fuel pump which has its own separate connector.

Re: 6-pin, 5-wire fuel sender in an EK?!?
Looks like somebody may have installed an S2K fuel sending unit in the Civic. For both the S2K and Civic, only 2 wires are relevant to the sending units. If you don't read 5-8V on the power wire when using a good ground, then the power wire or cluster is bad.

As far as wtf is going on here, I have no idea. Sender worked fine with stock cluster and now works fine with S2K after adjustment.
This is definitely not the first odd thing I have come across, but hey. I doubt anything was swapped, it didn't even look like that cover had ever been popped.

Actually some cars have a low fuel light and will have extra pins for that, I just realized.
