4 thoughs that want a thinkin challenge
I got a wierd problem with my car. Its a 93 civic vx hatch. I swapped in a d16z6, and it ran great for a while then it started ideling at like 400 to 500 rpms when parked. Well after a whole bunch of hour trying to figure it out i just stopping caring and went with it cause i was about to do a motor swap.
I swapped in a ls motor and it was a great swap. I mean i just dropped it in and it ran fine. well now about two months later my cars starting ideling at 400 rpms again. now this is whats wierd. with the swap I had honda put in all new gaskets and seals and ever other little thing a guy could think of in a motor. I even put in a almost new ls wiring harness.
Someother wierd things: the motor has a brand new fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, battery, starter, altonator, gaskets, seals, and fluids, and I swapped the correct obd1 ls ecu
The only thing in my whole car I never played with or exchanged out is my fuel pump.
I hope someone can help me. this is just something that boggles the hell out of my mind, i mean i tryed probly what seems to everything. but who know . Help me out if you ca. you guys are great take care.

Any idle speed from 500-1000 (roughly) shouldn't cause you any worries unless it's surging (going up and down). That's assuming you're running everything pretty much stock.

my almost stock 00 si idles at like 400-500 when its all warmed up.
unless the motor is dieing you shouldnt worry.
when its cold out side does your motor idle at like 1500 for a few minuits when you first turn it on? then drop down to around 500?

If its holding a steady RPM you are good. If its cold it will idle high (1500 or so) the
idle will slow down once it warms up and that speed depends on what you have done and what the idle is set for. If the low idle is bothering you clean the Idle Control and check your grounds. 400 does seem a little low though. Hope this helps.
