If you're probably going to dump the motor and tranny anyway, why not try ^^^ and see if maybe it works out for you and you won't need to spend any money on a swap until you're sure you want to.

Re: 2nd gear popping out (sappsycho)
not to jack the thread but my B16A2 (2000 Civic Si, stock bottom end) is doing that in 5th a light grind when she goes in over 5k revs. Anything under 5k she goes in fine ... so my question .. try the fluid or for sure its a syncro .. I think its a syncro and thats means HELLO RAPE ME DEALERSHIP The syncro is only 66 bucks on hparts.com ..

fredo syncro is gone. try using honda MTF ive seen it fix slight grinds before
and it could also be a bent shift fork as to why it wont stay in gear, but odds are, its a syncro.

yeah that's what im thinking ,, mine doesn't pop out, I just get a "grind". How does the MTF actually fix that tho? more lubrication on the gear box? And dont you have to fill that from the bottom of the tranny?
bump, thanks!

honda tranny fluid has some weird **** that conditiones eveything inside. i dont know whats in it because its a closley guarded secret from honda.
and you can fill the transmission from the filler hole (behind passanger side axle) or remove the VSS and fill through that
