2000 EJ8 Automatic CONVERSION Manual + b16a2 HELP!!!!
I'm currently working on a 2000 Honda Civic ej8. It was brought in with a d16y7 non vtec, with an automatic transmission. The job was to remove the sohc and convert the car to manual, also converting the motor to a b16a2 vtec.
My progress:
I've removed old motor and trans, converted the chassis and interior to manual, assembled the b16a2 and dropped it in, axels in, mounts in, headers and intake manifold are in, now comes the hard part... ENGINE WIRING HARNESS
My problem: what do I need!? Can I use the existing harness? I need to get this car ready to run so if anyone can help me or lead me in the right direction, THANKS! I will post pics if requested.

You don't need a engine harness if you don't want. But i've done this swap lots and its easy. under your center console right by your shifter you need to splice together the two white wires on that big plug that was on the automatic gear select. Then once you do that put the console back together you will need a ecu but if it was me find a P30 ecu OBD1 and buy yourself a OBD2B to OBD1 jumper harness then your done on the computer side. For your engine harness you can find a harness that has the VTEC plugs wired in or you can just use your harness that you took off your old motor and lenghthen a few wires on the sensors to fit your B16 then just run your vtec wires from your ecu to the motor and your good then. Check your local emissions restrictions regarding converting to obd1. May not be legal, smog-able.
If you down convert to obd1 I think you have to change the crank angle sensor on the obd2 b16, but that's just popping into my head for I don't know why.

With the crank angle sensor on the b16 you don't need to only if your running an obd2 ecu that's why I sudjested to run a obd1 ecu and be done with it but yes check with your smog ragulations because in Canada where I'm from we don't have very strict smog at all we can run what ever exhaust that we put on it or what ever tune.

Can anyone direct me to a walk through of how to reassemble an engine harness, not sure where some of these plugs go! And post picks or a link to something I can refer to about lengthening certain vtec wires and so forth

Parts list.
Pig tails for vtec silinoid and purge valve
Go to your local performance shop and order a obd2b to obd1 jumper harness or ebay
Ecu (if you already have one that came with the motor
Depends on what year your b16 is if it has obd1 injectors then swap out your injectors for your old injectors that where on the original motor the you took out.
And your good now is the car an SI or dx and if it is an si then your vtec wires are there if not you will have to run them to the ecu. I'll find you a link here for all this here right away.

K on this honda tech has the ecu pin out chart on here so you can find out which pin outs you need and the only wires you will have to lengthen is the (EACV) valve on the back if the motor and your IAT sensor on the side of your manifold then you will have to wire on your k ock sensor from your ecu to your motor and bam your done and ready to drive her.

I wonder how a shop can start in on a job like this without a parts list, unless the customer wrote a blank check.

I see you took on a project you had little info on. But the info is here, you just need to identify each sensor and know where to reroute it. HondaPartsHero has a greate thread for that. Just do yourself a favor and look at it first before going any further.

If it's obd2 it can work but double check the main connectors to see if they are the same if not fund another harness for say an SIR MODEL that came with a b16 stock in it on a civic

Having owned 4 jdm Honda Kings b20s, I'm aware that they're non vtec. Not sure how educated you are on this topic but if someone relates to a b20 v they've obviously done a vtec head and harness. I'm almost positive this harness will slap right on, thanks guys!

Head will slap right on with no problems I just thought he was using a b16 but in the beginning he asked what parts list he needed to MAKE IT RUN! and then now he's buy harnesses because he converted from AUTO TO MANUAL! MY OPINION he just wants basically plug and play .
