at the auto parts store the y8 head gasket part number is the same as a z6, indicating that it is the same 0.037 thickness. i need the 2 layer y8 0.025 head gasket. is honda the only place to get this? and if so how much?

i have tried advance/auto zone and napa and they all have the same head gasket showing for the z6 and y8. napa though said it was a mls head gasket. should i remove one of the layers to achieve that thickness?

any help would be appreciated.

btw - this head gasket is for a stock a6 bottom end with a stock y7 head - both non vtec. thanks

holy ****, just decided to call my local honda dealer and they have the 2 layer IN STOCk for $33.50 - that's 13.00 less than the "discount" parts stores -

and you can't beat honda quality

Let us know if it is indeed a 2 layered gasket or if the honda parts guy just checked the part number and said "yea, sure. it's 2 layered, whatever you say"

do me a favor, dont assume this is my first build, there are two y8 headgaskets, a 2 layer and 3 layer. i always use the two layer on motors that are going to stay n/a like the one i am putting together now for my beater. do some research instead os a mindless post

I never ASSUMED this was your first build. I was saying that all the y8 headgaskets I've done were 3 layered metal. Maybe I'm crazy or something is weird, but I haven't taken a y8 engine apart to find a 2 layered gasket.

That's why I asked if there truely was a 2 layer gasket in my 2nd post. Or if the honda parts counter guy just looked it up and said "yea, sure. we have one" without looking at it.

People on here are edgy.

Do WHAT research. I've put together so many mini-me setups I think even you'd be surprised.

I've gone to honda to buy the y8 head gasket and I've received a 3 layered metal gasket. O'reilly's sells the 3 layered metal gasket for under 35 bucks with a discount. And all other places usually never have it in stock.

I have yet to see a 2 layer and sorry if my post didn't come out like it should, but my intentions were to know if there REALLY WAS a 2 layered gasket.

I haven't been on d-series.org for a long time, and not many people talk D stuff over here.
