1998 Civic HX wet trunk
I have been trying to figure this out for a while, I thought I had this whippped, Sealed the seam at top of quarter panel on left (driver) hand side and it didnt leak for a long time. That was in june, saturday we had pretty good rain here in cincinnati and the car sat the entire time but the trunk was soaked. The trunk seals seam seated, still flex nicely and are all seated. Anyone else have this issue with theirs? I looked in tech and around and didnt see anything.
Thanks for help

I have a 97 coupe and have had a trunk leak for a long time, I just put a plastic container under it. Look closely at the channel where the rain water goes thru. Clean the track off really well. Check the rubber trunk gasket but it may not be the problem. Can u see where it is leaking inside the trunk? Open the trunk lid, fill a gallon jug with water and pour it into the water track next to the gasket. Move up until u see it starting to leak again. That is the spot. If u look closely at the lower left corner of ur rear glass, u can trace a body seam down along the trunk water channel. My car had a leak along this seam, u could see a small breakdown in the or body filler or what ever the sealer is called. I just put a bit of clear silicone along the entire seam going from the rear window corner to around 3/4 down the water channel. Just flatten the silicone into the seam like ur caulking ur bathtub.

another spot is inside of the tail lights on the sheet metal. I found a plastic grommet missing and water rolled off the tail light channel right down the sheet metal into the hole.
I just went to honda and had one ordered and ive been dry ever since.

I had the same problem and found no good info online for it. I use tape to cover the sunroof then the rain gutters then around the rear window and it still leaked. There is a seem where the front corners of the trunk meet the rear window that runs front to back of the car from the trunk seal to the bottom corner of the window. There was a very small crack in the seam sealer that I did not thick was the leak but with nothing to lose I put some caulk on it and the bucket I had in the trunk was dry after and down poor.

I had run a hose along the trunk and it didnt leak any, I will look at tail lights, sealed along whole left and right chanels with clear caulk designed for windows in hopes it is enough to slow or stop it.
