Default 1997 D16Y8 blown block/motor removal.

I need help/instructions on how to pull my block off. Can you just unbolt the tranny and block from the rest of the motor or do you have to pull the whole motor? Really need it out today

all.

you have to undo all the hoses, wires and mounts, axles and then you can pull the whole motor.

best to bag and tag all the wires and hoses not connecting back to the engine itself.

Remove the engine and trans all together after disconnecting all hoses and connectors (You'll have to disconnect the ECU located in the passengers kick panel because that harness will come out also). Axles will have to come out as well.

First time I removed one I dropped it out the bottom, as I didn't have access to a cherry picker. They appear to be designed to come out that way, and it's really not that hard.

That said, I bought a cherry picker after that, and it's even easier to take it out that way.

Sticking points for most new people are getting the axle nuts off to remove the axles and getting the crank pulley bolt off.

Ah, and also the "bitch" pin. As a mater of fact, I just pulled a motor a few days ago where I couldn't get that pin out, and had to pull it out through the bottom with the shift linkage attached - then I could bash on it.

-axle nuts
-crank pulley bolt
-bitch pin

The rest should be straight forward.
