hi, just purchased this car and fixing the little things...
i pulled the back seat and the yellow wire to the fuel level sensor has voltage, the black wire to the same is good to ground. Unplugging or direct connection of the two wires has no effect on the gas gauge (key on).
Is there a fuse in this system that would cause this or will I need to get another cluster?

Im not sure its a fuse, but the gauge is most likely fine, you probably have a bad sensor in the tank cuased by sulphuric gasoline. Those are pretty expensive to replace, You can always just use your trip odometer to figure out how many miles you have left.

when I connected the 2 terminals from the wiring harness at the gas tank, the gauge did not move. It has 12VDC on the yellow wire and the black wire had continuity to ground. How can I test the gauge before I spend $$ on a pump and sender combo???
