1992 Civic Front Brake Upgrade...stock Calipers??? (HELP)
hey,
I have already searched this topic and was quickly wondering. I have a 1992 Civic CX. I am switching the rear drums to discs. I am changing the front rotors and pads because they are done with. In the near future i am going to buy SPOON calipers. But until then, MY QUESTION IS can i keep my front calipers and upgrade my rotors to 10.2" without a problem for a while until i switch to SPOON. Thank you for your help. Also, what Master Cylinder is recommended ...what is 14/16 15/16 and 1". What is that measurement for? Will 1" be the best solution. THANK AGAIN IN ADVANCE!

CX comes with 9.5 inch rotors from the factory. There is no way to use 10.2 inch rotors with your stock calipers.

why do you want to go so big on the discs? Had stock dx front brakes, changed over to integra ls and wow!!! Night and day. Car stops atleast 40 percent better. Cant wait until I do the rear discs.

yeah just get front knuckles of an LS, EX, SI, SIR, GSR, and adjust your rear drums maybe replaces shoes and machine drums. Believe me with brakes bled, and with good pads, and nice clean rotors you will stop so freaken hard you won't believe. You won't need no freaken "spoon" calipers.

Why go spoon? That ***** so over-priced. Get some accord wagon calipers, and you'll be all set
This is what I'm going to do.
Accord wagon calipers. Same as ITR.
Prelude vtec rotors. Redrill for 4x100
1991 civic EX 4-door M/C. Theres a post around here somewhere, I believe its a 15/16. Bolts right up the booster of the 92-95 civics without modification.
40/40 prop valve.
Bleh I've read so much about this **** the last 2 days its crazy. I just hope I got it right, if not, anyone feel free to correct me.
EDIT: One more thing, if you really care that much, I reccomend reading https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=152884
So much information in there its crazy. Everything you ever needed to know about brakes on a honda, its like 8 pages long but definetly worth reading.

if you are going to spend all that money on spoon calipers. DON'T.
Just get the ITR 5 lug swap. You will NEVER have fading problems if you use the right pad, fluid, brake line combo.
Honda Challenge cars use stock brakes. They all use the 10.2 rotors and regular civic calipers (92-95 si/ex).
My HC car uses hawk pads with motul fluid with goodridge lines and of course brakes way better than my ITR.
If the car will never see the street, as you say. Then get track pads like hawk blues.

Re: 1992 Civic Front Brake Upgrade...stock Calipers??? (niterida)
get some 11 inch rotors from a prelude vtec, redrill them to 4x100, and slap on some ITR calipers. For the rears use the New civic SI hatchback 10.3 inch rotors and calipers.
thats the ultimate budget brake setup. All same size rotors and calipers as an ITR without the $$$$ of 5 lugs

Re: 1992 Civic Front Brake Upgrade...stock Calipers??? (NinetyTwoHB)
the whole itr 5-lug thing is an idea, but understand, $1,200 is the price for me on the calipers. 5-lug is about $1k alone. Then you have to get new pads and rotors. NOT TO MENTION!!!! i have 4-lug wheels. i have a set and also a spare. so then i have to buy new wheels and find a spare as well. I THINK in the end, u obviously get better stopping with SPOON, you do get uneven wear, but that doesn't matter when u change rotors every race day. I Dont know yet, i was looking for some answers, i still dont know what to do about the calipers. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS AND SOLUTIONS.
