15's or 17's and the drop issue
i am pondering buying 15's or 17's. i cant make up my mind. i have a friend that has some 17's for sale, and im considering buying them. my only issue is putting a 2.0/2.5 drop and them rubbing. im pretty sure they would. im also pretty sure that if i do the same drop on some 15's with some xxx/50/15 tires i would not have a problem. thanks for all the help

if you ever consider racing your car, the 17's are going to hurt you performance-wise. i'd just go with 15's and lower it without having to worry about rubbing on the inner fenders..

because they're bigger, heavier, etc.

15's with 205-50's are about the same diameter as 17's with 205-40's. You guy's forget that when you get bigger wheels, you get thinner tires. So if one rubs the other will too.
This might help you understand.

well put!
yeah, if you pick up 17s you wont wanna drop it any, but if you get 15s you could drop it quite a bit.
17s just got too small of a profile tire to allow for a smooth ride, so when you drop your car with a spring rate thats way more than stock probably itll ride like complete ****, and why? only cuz you wanna look 'cool'?
hatchs just look funny with big rims, but if its a coupe or sedan, it doesnt look as weird. just my .02$

I have 17s that are less weight than my stock 15s. I dropped 2" handles great and has never rubbed. The only problem is that the roads here suck and pot holes feel like the are going to shatter your teeth. looks great though

i got 17x7 Konigs ... 205/40/17 .. no rubs with H&R spring 1.75 front and 1.5rear but when it settled.. it measured about 1.82front and 1.63at rear ... i don't have camber problem yet i did the rear washer trick and it worked fine... the car does not rub when i turn, but it does when i take a shart U-Turn.. but that can be e/zly sloved by removing your inner guard thing
