Default Maximum drop

I would like to know what is the maximum I can drop my civic 1996 HB with my mags that are 16''x7 +38mm offset with 205/45/16 tires without any rubbing and without rolling my fenders or adding camber...

Thanks in advance.

You can drop exactly 1.21 jiggawatts.

It is kinda trial and error. That is what coilovers are for, they get you to the height that you want.

I'd also like to know... Can you drop let's say 1.5? 1.7? 2.0? I have the same setup and want to drop 2.0. Without rolling the fenders or having mad camber can it be possible that with 2.0 inchs it won't rub against? Thanks

Edit, Forget about ajustable coilovers here with the winter its a mess! Thanks

my car is SLAMMED and let me tell you it doesnt matter what you do since i had a.75" drop and camber wear was evident. when you lower the car from stock you need to coefficiently change the camber, thats just the way it is...

No it wasn't. It was toe wear. You obviously didn't get the car onto an alignment rack after you lowered the ride height, so the resultant toe-out up front was chewing up the inner shoulders of your tires. A three-quarter-inch drop is not going to gain anywhere close to enough static negative camber to result in uneven "camber wear."

maybe your right i dont know im not a suspension expert. in either case it doesnt matter, camber or toe the alignment was off period! i did not put it on the rack and it resulted in uneven tire wear which could have been avoided by leaving it at stock ride height. mystery solved son!

It also could have been avoided with a simple wheel alignment, which is required any time you change the ride height. Not only will it reduce or eliminate uneven tire wear, but it will also improve handling and drivability.

yea i realize that. im just saying what happens when you dont. but having a little different of a camber will improve handling as well.

Neg camber improves handling up to a point...that's why we look at camber curves, virtual swing arms etc...points missed by many folks...one very close to me, unfortunately.

I understand that i would have to do and allignement. Camber doesn't mess up your wheels TOE does but im talking about adding crazy camber! What im asking is about the height with the setup, nothing else.

Would a 2 inch drop considering 16x7 +38mm offset and 205/45zr/16, fit and not rub against either front or back fenders without rolling them (the fenders).

Im waiting this response to either sell my mags or get a smaller drop. Would 1.5'' fit?

Thanks guys!

Thank you. I've been daily driving vehicles on airbags for over 5 years and I hate it when people say camber wears the tires bad. Toe has way more affect on tire wear than camber.

seblep,

Your written language is a little difficult to understand...go back read some of your replies...they are unclear.

As far as wheels are concerned...What are the offsets? You have to inlcude all of the information if you want answer.

Sorry, you did inlcude the offset. My bad!!! Try this, see if you can borrow spacers that fit a wheel of known offset and experiment. I threw a 5mm H&R spacer on the front of my son's 99Si for goofs and giggles with the stock 99 Si wheels - no problem, but this car is lowered about an inch. This was a 5minute experiment. Easy if you have the spacers.

He thinks it's ricer because you have airbags.I'm not here to judge, you can do what ever you want to your car,but people have a preconceived notion that if you're riding on airbags, have a body kit, have a huge wing on the back,or what have you, then you are a ricer.Who really cares? It's just a car for crying out loud, and a Honda at that.

Which I find amusing, because running air bags or cylinders is a smarter choice than "slizzamming y0!" the car on conventional coilover suspension and leaving no compression travel.

Air spring. An inflatable bag used instead of a coil spring.

Okay, syntax...i.e. slang for slammed. I'm good now.
