14b d16z6 setup
Ok, so Im planning on turbocharging my d16z6. Everything is stock, freshly rebuilt head. I was wondering how much boost would be safe on stock internals, and a good tune, and how much horsepower I could make safely for daily driving. I would like to make somewhere over 200 safely. I have 350 set aside for a good tune locally. I was wanting to get a fmu, but I read that I shouldn't bother with fmu's, and just get my ecu socketed, get bigger injectors, and a good tune. What is ecu socketing???? What would you purchase if you were in my shoes?
adjustable cam gear
walboro fuel pump
bigger injectors
fmu
aftermarket fuel pressure regulator
vafc controller
manual boost controller
electronic boost controller
and any other things you guys would recomend. Sorry theres so much info. Thank you guys so much. Im really confused on what I need go get it over 200 safely. Just let me know what you would purchase, and what you would do if you had my stock motor? Socketed ecu?? Thanks again, David

Re: 14b d16z6 setup (turbo_d)
ecu socketing or "chipping" is when your tuner takes the main chip out of your ecu and replaces it with a socket that a chip can be inserted into. heres a pic of mine its a chipped P75 before i had it chipped with vtec.. your chip goes in the upper left corner (2 rows of shiny brass circles) thats the socket you take your chip out put it on a docking station burn your map and watever else you want and plug it back in

adjustable cam gear not necessary
walboro fuel pump walbro 255hp
bigger injectors at least 440s

manual boost controller hallman makes a good piece
electronic boost controller not necassary

contact phearable.net. depending on what your tuner works with you could get a crome chipped ecu for fairly cheap and it will already have a basemap for your setup to get you to the tuner.

Re: 14b d16z6 setup (TorganFM.)
I wouldn't run over 15psi Max which would put you in the 235whp range but for a DD i would stay around 10psi. Which would be around 200whp give or take alittle. That turbos max is 18psi and anything over that is just blowing HOT air and you will have a loss in power.
