'00 Si B16A2 questions
i have a '00 B16A2 that im swapping in my car next weekend, but i had a few prep questions: the motor has been sitting for about 6 months. before the motor was taken out it was fully rebuilt (ex: new bottom end, except for pistons and rods, new cam seals, timing belt, head cleaned and inspected, new plugs, oil pump and oil pick up, etc) i mean everything. and it was only driven about 2-3k miles, then the motor came out. 6 months later im actually getting off my lazy *** and swapping it in...but do i need to be worried that is been sitting for so long? im going to change engine and tranny oil before trying to start it. but what else? thanks again.

Inspect timing belt, water pump, clutch, and flywheel.
I'd still change the oil and tranny fluid.
Double check anything that would be a pain in the a$$ to check/fix with the motor in your car.

Re: '00 Si B16A2 questions (Smith Wise)
check out my first post...i did everyhting...everyhting OEM. including clutch and flywheel...i have motor oil and tranny oil ready ( castrol and GM syncromesh w/friction material)...i also just bought a spoon valve cover, do i need to get a new gasket and honda bond to put on the gasket? what exactly do i need to not have any leaks? what about the seals that go around the spark plug holes? oh, and is castrol good engine oil?

You dont need to replace your valvecover gasket when you remove your cover, but if its in bad shape, replace it. Put a dab of honda bond or permatex grey on the corners of the gasket where the cut outs for the cams are. You shouldnt have any leaks if you do that. Castrol is good, but for oil that you can buy at a store, mobil 1 is better.
