Sounds good now that you explained it clearly. Replying in complete sentences always helps.

my mechanic keeps telling me its the main relay
If your mechanic fails to understand that the main relay has nothing to do with voltage to the distributor, then I highly recommend that you fire him and find a new mechanic.

Have you personally verified that the Blk/Yel wire in the distributor plug and inside the distributor lacks voltage with the key in ON(II)? If not, this is the place to start.

If the distributor plug lacks voltage, next test pin 10 in C101 (female connector/red wire).

Test continuity between pin 1 in C419 and pin 10 in C101.

This^ is why there's no voltage getting to the distributor. Plug it in. Your mechanic has an odd sense of humor.

Pin 1 in C419 doesnt light up , Neither does pin 10 in C101. The other pins in C419 light up but not Pin 1.

Do an Ohm test not a voltage test between the two pins.

You have no voltage at the distributor plug and no spark and now you want to know whether your cat is clogged? Save your pennies and pay a good mechanic to help you.

I stated that it did start and ran for a couple of seconds so it must be getting spark, but after those few seconds it then died and let out a really bad smell

You must've gotten impatient and kept cranking your car. You probably flooded the cylinders. What you're probably smelling is gas.
