'00 Civic Si - Cruise Control Will Not Set/Engage
Hi guys. Last week I purchased a bone stock 2000 Civic Si with 140k miles on the odometer. A few days ago I tried to use my cruise control, but it did not work.
(My baby)
The CC button will light up, as well as the CC light on the cluster but the cruise control WILL NOT ENGAGE/SET.
After looking around, I realized that the plastic which holds the end of the cable (under the rubber boot) had broken off of the underhood cruise control module, which in turn caused the cable to separate from the module. Well, I purchased a replacement one from the junkyard and installed it. I hopped in my car to try it out but once again, IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE!
I have done a little trouble shooting... so far I have:
- replaced the broken underhood cruise control module
- replaced the vacuum canister
- checked the underdash "cruise control" fuse
- checked the rubber "stopper" on the clutch pedal
- changed the cruise control electronic "box" found behind the driver side kick panel.
- my horn works fine
- my brake lights work fine
I am kind of lost as to what to do next?
Any help is greatly appreciated, i have a long commute to work everyday so i would LOVE to have my cruise working properly!
Thanks in advance guys!

I'm not sure if this will help. But often times, it takes a few seconds for the cruise to kick in from when you hit the "set" button. Have you tried just letting go of the gas and waiting a few seconds?
Is the vacuum line behind the intake manifold properly routed to the cruise actuator?
Checked that the brake lights are not always on?
Checked the clutch interlock switch? Clutch pedal height?

You must be driving more than 30 MPH to set the CC.
Are you holding the set button for at least 2 seconds?
The vacuum cannister has 2 hoses - one to the actuator and one to the intake manifold. Are both connected?
These may help:

I performed the actuator test above and it functioned flawlessly, just as described.
I have also replaced the check valve, as well as the buttons on the steering wheel as a last ditch effort to try to get it to work. I cant think of anything else to try. With all this being said, does this sound like it could be a wiring issue?
Thanks in advance!

The vacuum lines are routed properly.
Brakes lights are not always on and function correctly.
Im not sure how to check the interlock switch (but the light stays on on the cluster when i have my foot OFF the clutch, and the light disengages when i barely tap the clutch pedal, which i assume means its functioning as it should. I also have to push clutch in to start the vehicle if that helps any.)
I also checked the bottom rubber stopper for the bottom clutch switch and it is in tact. Is there another one (pad/switch) on the clutch pedal that i need to check?
Clutch pedal height is what i assume to be the right height (i have tried pulling the clutch pedal out with my foot to see if that would fix the issue but it still does the exact same thing)

The green light on the cruise control button comes on when i push it, and then the green indicator light turns on on the cluster ALSO (whenever I hit the "set" button on the steering wheel)

Are you sure you vac lines are hooked up? did you route the cable to the gas pedal correctly? Things like this need to be check and confirmed.

Yes, as stated above the vacuum lines are indeed hooked up correctly, as well as the cable from the actuator to the gas pedal being routed correctly.
