00' civic lighting questions, and some funny pics.
I just bought a 2000 civic sedan lx for $1400. Everything runs good and I plan on this being my daily for a long time. I have a b20 hatch but its no daily driver. Well, the previous owner really did a number on this car. He says there was a wall of subs in the back and speakers all over. I will show some of the pictures of the aftermath.
What I need help with is a few lighting/wiring problems. My climate control lights are not working, I checked the bulbs and they seem to be fine. My shifter lights are also not working, so I cant see which gear I am in at night. On the gauge cluster, my D4 light is the only one not working, Chances are it is the bulb but I'm not sure how I would go about replacing it. Another problem I'm having is that, at night when I'm driving and idling, my headlights and dash lights pulsate. Its like when you have a loud system and the lights dim when it turned up, but I dont have any speakers. Autozone checked the battery and alternator and they are fine. Any ideas?
Also I found a mystery plug and need help identifying it. Heres the plug:
The lights that arent working:
And now for some pictures to make you lol:
^^^ Those are the speaker holes for the back seat/trunk....I'm gonna have fun trying to make brackets to mount some 6x9's back there.

Holy...****... The cluster light is just a light bulb in the back, the shifter I would assume is the same. Iv never had a automatic so idk. And for your A/C lights I know those are tied into your cluster. Honestly I wouldnt doubt they are cut/spliced somewhere back there. I just took my clusters wiring apart because my night lights (lol) wont work only to find out its just a mess back there. Good Luck man.

haha, yeah. Those were my first words too.
There are alot of random wires that were spliced into, but none were cut from what i can see. This guy had a million toggle switches wired to who knows what. One of the spliced wires is a red and green one from the cruise control button.
oh and another problem I forgot to mention, is that my dome light wont shut off when I close the doors. So I leave it off all the time.

I have a buddy that has a JDm Auto Sir cluster and the D4 dosnt work in his, Can you get some pics of the cluster its self..Jdm clusters are a little different and i dont think D4 lights up at all..And you cant change the bulbs in a Auto cluster where the p,n,d4,d3,d3 are so get some better pics of the cluster..As far as the lights in that Dash they are all bulbs, pull the controls off and go to the autoparts store and match them!

I'll get some pictures of the front and back of the cluster when I get home later.
As far as the bulbs, they are all in good working condition. I replaced my shifter lights(where the **** is) and it still doesnt come on. And my dome light still wont shut off when I close the door. My door switches are working because when i leave the lights on, it beeps.

Everything was plugged into that...there were no plugs hanging out of it..Like that green plug you showed i dont think that goes into the cluster.Like the back of the cluster looks you should have to BIG plugs a yellow one and a small green one..IMo if the cluster operate correctly then i wouldnt worry about it..you know what gear you are in if it dosnt light up..lol..But Its Not a JDM cluster so IDK really i will see if i cant find your awnser though!
And Change your Avatar dude that **** creepy!! lmao

Ok, so heres the latest. It turns out that the cluster, climate control, etc. bulbs were actually bad. I replaced them and they work fine now.
The only problems now are that my dome light doesnt turn off when the door shuts and my headlights and dash lights still pulsate at night.
any ideas?

As far as the dome light, mess with that little switch in the door jam, see what you can do..Maybe go to a junk yard and get one and swap it out..
The dash lights, might be the dimmer switch...as far as the headlights i would just check the connection, from the looks of the car you probably have a short in the wires somewhere..
