Default "Clink" noise coming from my wheel area... 2000 Civic Si...?

I'm gonna try to explain this as clearly as I can so maybe someone on here can help me trouble shoot this. It's a 2000 Civic Si.

Whenever I start to take off from first gear, or start to go in reverse there is a distinct "clink" sound that comes from me front passenger side wheel area. It's one "clink" and then that's it, until I start off again.

I poked around the entire wheel and suspension area and couldn't find the culprit.

A few friends even listened and didn't know what it was. One of them said his old Civic used to do it on BOTH front wheel areas.

Anyone got any clues?

Axle??

I dunno... if it were an axle it wouldn't just clink once...it would be continuous when you turn.

Have you pulled your wheels off and inspected the cv boots/ball joints/knuckles?

No, I don't know too much about that stuff.

I thought I might get some tips or advice on what it could be before I go pulling things apart

it could be your axles or it could be what i was told were (spider gears) in your tranny which is what the axles slide in to.

put her on jackstands and start tugging on the suspension.

IMO its probably the outer joint on the axle starting to go bad but it COULD be a suspension bushing that has gone south.

yeah, if the top of the wheel is wiggling, could be the upper a-arm bushing. If so, I'm not sure, but you might have to replace the whole arm. If the bottom is, it could be the lower mount, but I'm not positive that it would only make a single click while your rolling around

What suspension are you running? Coilovers? Mine was doing the same thing, ended up being my coilovers.

It could be a number of things, wheel bearing, axle, warped rotor, brake pad shim, etc...

Check the obvious, work from there.

I have your answer. I work for a honda dealer ship out in Corona, CA. I had this exact same prob about 4 times. The fix.....

Put your car up, loosen the axle nut. spray wd-40 on the splines, You dont have to remove the axle. And tighten the axle nut. I can almost garuntee it will fix.

That same exact **** is still happening in my 2000 si, except i think it is coming from my drivers side. Took it to Honda but they wouldn't anything b/c i had aftermarket suspension. The guy from honda that drove with me said that it was a ball joint or something like that. But i don't really know if he is right or not.

Wow, it could be so many things. I guess I'll just have to print this out and start looking in that area of the car. Sucks 'cause it only has 49k miles on it?

And for the record, if it is coilovers, I do have Neuspeed/Bilstein coilovers...

If i had to put a bet on it i would say it is the Axel. mine was doing the same thing so i pulled it out and it was shot. it maded a clicking noise off the start then when i turned it would too.
