engine oil and tranny oil recommendations
I went back and read the 5 pages of threads , and tried the search, but couldnt find anything.
I will be doing my first oil change on my 09 Si that I bought used. I also plan to replace the tranny oil.
I've run redline shockproof tranny oil on my other cars, but they are all older. Wasnt sure about running it on a newer car with LSD.
And what kind of synthetic should I run for the motor? I know it is 5 quarts of 5w30, but was looking to see if there was a prefered choice on here.
Or, should I just go into my honda dealer and buy whatever they sell for the engine and tranny?

Shockproof is usually too thick... stick with honda mtf, redline mtf, or torco mtf. As far as oil, anything quality will be fine(mobile 1, redline, torco, etc)

thx
I'll probably just push the easy button and go to the dealer...their oil cant be much more expensive than mobil 1 or redline I'd imagine

I've been having great results with OEM tranny fluid. As for engine oil and filter, just pick a decent brand; I've been using Castrol GTX 5w30 with K&N filters. The main thing is that you replace everything on time.
