turbo basics help
hey guys, i'm looking to turbo my civic by the end of this upcoming summer (or when the money is availible). i have a couple of questions. first, what do you think would be the best turbo option? how much will it cost with labor included? what are some good boost options? lastly, i've heard D17s don't respond well to bolt ons, is there any good products to increase hp?? thanks in advance!!

search around a bit before you get bashed by the other forum users. an entire turbo (homemade) will run ~$1200. the labor from shops is pretty expensive unless you personally know somebody. its actually very easy to install a turbo... you just gotta dedicate the time.
you're correct about D171/2. both don't response well to I/H/E. tops, you'll get ~7hp from the $1,000+ you'll spend on the I/H/E.
your only options right now are as follows
1. K20 swap (best option in the longrun)
2. Turbo that D block
3. NOS that sucka

another good thing to do, is go to some turbo related sites, like turbod16 or homemadeturbo.com , these places have TURBO GURU's and will answer any questions turbo related as most of them build their kits themselves.
Any questions regarding engines are probably good to ask here, k20a.org, or ephatch.com
