Replacing Oil Pan
Here's the scenario. I took my car ONCE to get the oil changed, because I didn't have time and didn't want to drive it out of town with old oil. I just recently changed it myself and notice the oil pan was stripped . I went ahead and just put in an over sized drain plug for now as a quick fix until I get paid next week. My questions are, is it necessary to replace the oil pan? how did this happen? Was it over torqued? How can I prevent this from happening again?

Re: Replacing Oil Pan
it's not hard to strip the threads...i would use a torque wrench...
if it's not stripped badly, you might get away with retapping the drain hole. do this with the pan removed else you'll drop metal bits into the oil...

Re: Replacing Oil Pan
Damn that sucks I guess I'll start using a torque wrench. I'm probably just gonna replace the oil pan instead. Thanks.
