This has been discussed before.

The reason why the header won't work with your stock exhaust setup, is because the catalytic converter on an LX is mounted inside of the header, and the EX has it seperated. So, this would require you to get a test pipe or a cat-pipe to connect the new header to your existing exhaust setup. Keep in mind, that you'll probably need an extension for your O2 sensor to mount correctly.

To give emphasis? I don't know, it doesn't make any logical sense.

long story short.. if you got a dx/lx and buy ex headers... you have to either

1. modify your exhaust with a test pipe and move/extend the o2 sensor

or

2. Get the ex header and downpipe with the ex exhuast.. lol.. its all on you

if one more person says headers or v-tech in this thread, i'm going to blind myself.

there's only ONE header and there is no dash or h in vtec.

Get the kamikaze header. Its teh best thing made for ANY d17 engine, but its made for the LX/HX/DX engines

It has a 2.25" collector, while ALL the other header's have 2" collectors.

Kamikaze header. By far the best header for LX/ DX. CHEAP TOO!
AND I WAS WRONG ITS A 2.5" Collector, EVEN BETTER!
