Default Handfull of problems

So,

Car was overheating- brought in to dealership and they found no issue but when returned was no longer overheating. ??? I'm thinking it was "fixed" and I wasn't told what they fixed.

Now the heater actually works and it's cooler (engine temp) then ever however a new problem arose when driving home:

upshifting between 1-3 feels like it's rather dropping hard into gear when it hits 3k rpm. If I give her more gas it doesnt happen.

Ironically I was having downshift problems before hand... :S They are gone.

I'm getting an oil change tomorrow to check for any coolant/pieces of gasket in my oil as I don't know if the overheating caused an issue (mechanic says it didn't cause any damage). Whilst it was overheating every .5 to 1km causing a pullover before bringing in it's been steady at 1/3 since. So he did something to fix it.

Thoughts on the shifting? It's not slipping or doing anything other than feeling different, its almost as if when upshifting its slamming into gear and almost pulling me forward.. hard to explain.. no other problems happening though.

Thoughts?

The auto transmissions in our cars are notorious for failing, escpecially 01-03. When was the last time you had coolant flush and transmission fluid changed?

Overheating:
-Clog in the system.
-Air bubble in the system.
-Failing thermostat.
-Faulty radiator.
-Headgasket

When they change the transmission fluid, have them check for any metal particles in it. If there are, time to save up for a another one, preferably an 04-05 model year one.

Everything was recently done (evvvverything).

It seems that since changing trans fluid it doesn downshit like a sl** anymore, but simply takes a while to warm up before shifting becomes smooth now (whereas it used to upshift clean any temp before, and downshift bad all the time previously).

Its got over 415,000km on the transmission, if it was TSB it would of failed a long time ago

P.S a lot of people that get particles dont admit they got a flush, which you're not suppose to do on the civic auto-trans. I've seen a number of them destroyed from flushing and cause more harm than letting your girlfriend slam it from reverse into drive everytime she goes to get her nails done.

^ I'm sure that will be debated. But from everything I know from a buddy at honda the rule is NEVER flush the trans. Do 3 sep. trans changes within 100-300km of each other.

Ah, I should of posted in here.

So, everythings been done and now the only problem left is that its started to rev up (slightly, barely noticeable on the guage) when I stop at intersections. I adjusted the throttle a bit as its been downshifting rough and when idle barely moves.

I adjusted about a half turn, much better. However now instead of reving up at a light it drops from whatever I'm cruising at (say 2500-3000) to 1000 when I break then drops to 700rpm idle after about 3-5 seconds.

Vacuum leak? I checked all the hoses. The reason I went for the throttle was the slow idle, shitty downshifting and the throttle cable was completely out of its housing.

I guess I answered my own question, first thing to check is for a leak. But all the hoses seem fine. I'm limited to working space...

But oil/coolant and emissions are clean for any gasses indicating a blown gasket.

Shifting improved since trans fluid drain and fill (3 times seperated across 100 km)

This started happening recently, so other than a vacuum leak possibly an O2 sensor? Any ideas?

ok, so it only does the over rev with heqt/ac on. so vacuum leak in coolant system?
