Is this noise normal?
This is on our 06 Accord V6. I tried to take a video of it, although I'm sure it's hard to tell from a video. Anyway, I recently had the timing belt changed, and this may have always sounded like this and may be 100% normal and I just have never noticed, but I just don't remember it ever being quite this loud. I've noticed at idle, the motor just seems to be pretty noisy and it's obviously coming from the timing belt side. Either from the drive belt area, or inside the timing cover. I thought I'd let you guys listen and see if you thought it sounded normal, or if something was going on. Thanks.

I don't have any experience with the V6's, but that does sound rather loud. My 2.4L sounds nice, smooth and quiet.
How many miles?
I take it that it runs well, otherwise?

seems fairly normal. the j30/j35's can be a little diesely at idle. hard to tell with out a rev or two, but there is also a possibility of the belt slightly rubbing somewhere along the track. you'd never be able to see it, you usually can only tell by the sound.
a knock or tick can be a rocker bridge that has excessive play needs to be properly aligned and torqued. but this sound come specifically from the valve area.

Re: Is this noise normal?
Yeah, it runs great and it definitely sounds like it's coming from either the pulleys for the drive belt, or the timing belt area. It's hard to tell which, but it doesn't seem to be coming from under the valve covers.
The car has 116k miles on it.
It may have always been like this, and I not have noticed, but I don't know for sure as it just seems like I'd have noticed this.
I did notice a chirping type noise previously with the old belt and I found the service bulletin of the crank pull mounting surface being uneven causing the belt to rub, but I had them perform that service bulletin. I thought that noise was completely gone as I didn't hear it, but I did notice that when checking this out yesterday and listening very closely, I could hear something that sounded like that very very lightly too, but it wasn't loud like it was before, so I assume that's fixed.

Re: Is this noise normal?
I think the OP is refering to the low pitched groaning and not the valve ticking am i correct? If so then they made the timing belt to tight and thats the tensioner pulley or water pump or both bearings making noise

Re: Is this noise normal?
I heard that, but I was mostly asking about the louder noise which seems to normal. So, that really low pictured noise, that's not very loud is a problem? Is this a serious problem where it needs to go back in, or something that I just shouldn't pay attention to?

Re: Is this noise normal?
its barely audiable imo it shuold be alright so long as an OEM water pump and tensioner puller were used. If its cheaper aftermarket stuff i would have it checked over again by the place that did the change.

It's the OEM water pump, but I don't think they changed the tensioner pulley, just the auto tensioner, and the crank pulley when they installed the shim kit thing you can buy.
