Flapping noise under acceleration....timing belt?
Lately when I am accelerating from a stop light or something, I hear a very distinct flapping noise coming from the engine. I popped the hood and at idle the timing belt area seemed very loud. Can a loose timing belt make this much noise? I just fixed some exhaust leaks, so I know what those sound like, and this isnt the same. However, this does seem to get louder with throttle position.
Any ideas? I have the valve cover off right now doing a valve adjustment, let me know if there is anything I can look for while I have it off besides timing belt condition. It was changed <20k miles ago btw.

Here are two pics of the timing belt.
Read some old posts and some said its the auto tensioner about to take a crap....could this be true?

Here is a video of me showing the play in the belt between the cam gears....I have no idea if this is significant or not.

I got the same problem I think. I hear a flapping type sound around my belts, sounds like it's coming from behind my timing belt cover area, ever fix this? If so what was it?

Re: (spanishlude)
I'll check it out on Friday, no problem.
I also got a squeaky belt, most likely from all the fluids I have spilled on it recently. A tightening helped a bit, but didnt take it away.
I'll be there at 8 or so....hopefully with my new CF fog trim covers, right JOEL!!!

I've heard that sound about... oh.... 4 times. All four times I jumped the timing belt within two weeks.
If it was my car my first reaction would be yank the auto tensioner and replace it. Bent valves and holes in pistons suck.
