Front Brake Pad question
Where is the turning indicator on the oem front brake pads? I want to try to get rid of it or bend it so dat it stops making a metal screeching noise when i'm going in reverse and turning the wheel. i think it's touching the dust shield or rotor causing the sound. it only happens on one wheel.

Re: Front Brake Pad question
If you are talking about the wear indicator, it's attached to the inner pad. I doubt this is causing your problem though. You might have a bent dust shield, or a rock lodged behind it. Hope you solve the issue.

Re: Front Brake Pad question
so you're saying that big metal clip looking thing sticking out on the inner pad is the wear indicator??
yeh i was thinking it was a bent dust shield bc when i installed the pads, i rested the calipers on top of the shield but i would think that the weight would not be heavy enough to actually bend and deform the shield since the shield is quite flexible but strong.
if i were to try to fix this, how would i know where the shield is bent so that i could bend it back? does the shield hit the rotor or does it hit the caliper or the shims? when the car is jacked up, i can't go in reverse or turn the wheel to try to re inact the noise? so how would i diagnose where it is?

Re: Front Brake Pad question
Yes, that large metal tab sticking out of the inner pad is the wear indicator.
The dust shield should be pretty straight and even around the rotor, any little bend should be noticeable. If it's rubbing, it's rubbing on the rotor.
