2005 Accord dome light problem
Hi, I have a 2005 4dr Accord EX V6 Automatic no navigation. The front dome light will not come on with any door open. Back seat dome does come on and works as it should. All dome lights will come on when manually pressed. All fuses, door switches and bulbs are good. I think it is the front dome light assembly. How can I verify a bad dome assembly. Honda and other online retailer want $375.00 to $500.00 for the assembly. Is there a way and how and where can I get the dome assembly circuit board ( new, used or refurbished ). Any help would be greatly appreciated. How about a junk yard assembly?

Re: 2005 Accord dome light problem
Issue can be due to both micro-switches for the map lights or a wire connection issue with the ground source which comes from the driver's Multiplex Integrated Control Unit (MICU).
The map lights have dual functionality; (1) turns on if pressed, and (2) works if door opened. Because the map lights have "dual functionality" there are separate ground sources involved in the circuit. The same ground source feeds both driver and passenger map lights when a door is opened. A different ground source is used when you manually pressed them on.
The micro-switch has three small terminal cavities (female) which matches up with three (male) metal terminal blades. One of the three metal terminal blades is not making sufficient contact inside the switch for the maplight bulb (probably the blade for the ground source coming from the coming from the driver's Multiplex Integrated Control Unit (MICU). – All the individual doors switches (at each door) are wired into the driver's MICU (located in the under-dash fuse box).
Mouser Electronics sells the ALPS switch (ALPS no. SPED210203) for $.86 each, plus shipping. Select USPS if you want to reduce shipping costs for these switches.
