What a fight, but I won in the end :D

I ended up breaking it loose with my wife yanking on this:


and me putting everything I could into this to keep the crank from turning:

1/2" drive breaker bar with the cheater, regular 1/2" drive ratchet down below with an open end serving as a cheater for it.

Here are the modified tools that ended up doing it for me:


I had to cut 3/8" off the pulley tool (ordered from toolwarehouse.net for $45). This thing was a lifesaver! I had to cut about the same off of the 19 mm socket, as well as round off the inside edges in order to get it onto the crank bolt with limited space. I still had to beat it on with a hammer everytime though!

I'll probably sell my modified tools to whoever needs them next (maybe we can just pass them around from person to person). New they were about $50 total (+ $10 in broken dremel tools and a lot of my time to modify them!). I'll sell them for $35 shipped.

Broken tool count ended up being 2 screwdrivers, 2 3/8" drive ratchets, and a bunch of Dremel bits and attachments

Now where was I...oh yea, step 12..."remove the special bolt"...done

Next time I'll try the bolt first, and if I can't do it easily I'll have a shop break it loose and snug it back up. Or I'll just go to the shop first

LOL, you gotta love when your wife yanks on it.

I wonder if you put anti-seize lube on it will it come off easier next time. Does anyone know if this would be bad for it? As in vibrate loose or torque improperly??

I'm using it on mine. Its keyed and has the ac and ps belts running on it so I dont think its too likely to be an issue.

Have no idea why its torqued to 181 ft lbs.

Yeah. Unless you wanna overnite air it to me so it can sit till next weekend .

I put anti sieze on mine as well. I don't think it will be an issue. I've been putting it on lug nuts for a long time and I've never had one back off.
