Oil vanishing!!
Hi,
After someone backing in to the front of my car, I noticed after a few days that the oil light went on. When I checked it there was very little oil in the engine and no leaks! I added 3 qt and after 2 days it went on again! I put in 5 qt and when i checked it after 2 days it had lost another 3 qt. It doesnt burn oil and doesnt leak oil. I have 85000 miles on it and it is a V6 3000 EX ACCORD 1998 MOD.
Could the oil be going to the transmition?? Could the crush have anything to do with this?? Any suggestions ???
Thanks Stelios

The oil cooler is the only thing I havent checked although it would have oil evrywhere. I will give it a look when I get home and let the engine run whille im looking.
I also dont think the oil could have gone to the trans cause it would have overflowed by now! But just to eliminate that to I will check the gadge.

Have you checked your coolant?
theres no way for the oil to enter you transmission either. Check your coolant for a milkyness, if there is, bad headgasket.
If not, get a compression test done

Re: Oil vanishing!! (sony224422)
well it was my sister in law who backed in to my car with a suburban!
Anyway, I fould what was wrong with the oil!!! The oil filter had a small hole and when the engine was running it was squirting oil. Thats why it wasnt leaving any oil puddle when parked. I changed the oil and it is now running great. Thanks all of you for the help. I appreciate it. I fixed it at 10 pm after work. I was determined to find the problem.

Well so I don't have to make another thread, my car is doing the same thing but is not leaking anywhere. New cam seals, oil pan gasket, and oil cooler o-ring. Leaks no where. But my oil disappears somehow?

Re: (ECX)
There are only three possible scenarios. 1) Oil is leaking (squirting) out of the engine onto the road somewhere. 2) Oil is finding its way into the cylinder and being burned. 3) Oil is leaking into the coolant through a bad head gasket.
It's gotta be one of those, and I'm going to guess that you have more leaks (#1 above) that you just haven't found yet. It is leaking somewhere; oil doesn't just disappear.
