Default Ignition Module

Hi,
I have a 1994 accord lx with 173,000 miles. I started it yesterday, it ran for 5 mins and was dead... no spark out of the plugs. After some carefull troubleshooting, I decided the ignitor module (epoxyed block mounted inside the distributor) was bad... Autozone put it on their tester and it checked bad for field.
I bought a new one and installed it and my car started....
My concern is that the mounting of the module to the little plate that goes on the aluminum piece that mounts to the distributor frame doesn't seem quite right.
There are 2 screws that mount the module down to the aluminum "mounting block" that when I tighten them, the plate lifts a little bit. Do I need to be concerned about heat transfer between the mounting plate and the aluminum mounting block?
There was no silicone mounting compound there so I didn't know for sure if they were counting on heat transfer from the mount plate to the mount block or not...
Any advice or concerns would be appreciated...

Thanks,,
Rif

Default Re: Ignition Module (Rif)

Aluminum dissipates heat very well, so from what I read it seems to be fine. Then again, I have two 4th gens, not a 5th. If that's the first ignition module you've replaced, I'd say that's normal. My uncle has a 97 Accord V6 and has replaced it already.
