Icon5 Is the engine dead???

I'll make this short and sweet - I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX, 201,000 miles, and my issue is this:

Today when I came out of the store and started my car she started ticking REALLY bad, not her normal 'Honda tick' - I immediately shut her off, and checked the oil - After checking the stick twice, it looked just a little wet with oil, so I added more, and checked the stick again, and still nothing reading on the dipstick! After putting in a lot more oil than I should have, she was still ticking, and the oil dummy light came on - I shut her down again, and decide to drain the oil to check for metal shavings, and it seems that I had put almost TWO GALLONS of oil in, and still had no reading on the stick! After it was drained I put in fresh oil, and a new filter (I only added 4 quarts, and no reading on the stick), and started her back up - The ticking faded away quickly, and she was running like normal again, so I started driving her back home - About 10 miles after, she started ticking loudly again, lost power, and died - My question is what would cause no reading on the stick? Bad oil pump? And does this mean the engine is shot?
