Default Too much oil?!

I just had my oil changed at Honda on September 26th. I checked it first thing yesterday morning, and it is way above the second dot. Is that way too much oil? I thought it was supposed to be between the two dots on the fifth gen. Is it gonna mess up my engine having that much oil in there for over two weeks? If the amount between the two dots is 1 quart, it is about 1/2 quart over the second dot.

Too much oil is really bad on your seals.

Did you check the oil level when the motor was cold and sitting perfectly horizontal to the ground and not at an angle? If worse comes to worse you can drain a tad bit of oil from the car...

I checked it after it had been sitting all night, on a perfectly level surface. Is it 1 quart between the two dots on the dipstick? If so, I am about 1/2 quart above the second dot. Will that amount of oil mess anything in my engine up? If so, I am going to rip my Honda dealer a new one. They are the ones who did my last oil change.

you are susposed to crank your car and let it run for about 5 sec. or so and cut it off then check it. all of the oil will completely drain into the pan after sitting overnight. i bet your oil level is fine. and yes it is exactly one qt from top to bottom dot.

NO! You want to check your oil AT LEAST 5 minutes after it has been run. If you check it right after it has been run, oil will still be draining down into the pan, and you will get an incorrect measurement. It is best to check it just before you start it cold.

I thought the best time to check it was after it had been sitting all night. That way you will get the most accurate reading because all of the oil has drained into the pan. That is what I did and it is about 1/4 to 1/2 quart above the second dot. Exactly at the second dot is totally full right. I just hope my engine is okay, I had the oil change on Sep. 26th. I just checked it yesterday, so I have been driving like this for over two weeks. I thought I would be okay since Honda did the oil change. It isn't like I went to Jiffy Lube or something. Do you guys think I messed anything up?

I called Honda. They are going to look at it tomorrow morning. I am just wondering if I might have messed something up. It has been over two weeks since the oil change, so I have been driving 1/2 qt overfull for over two weeks. I haven't pushed it hard though since the oil change. Should I be too worried about it?

hmm the prelude dipstick is a pain in the ******* ***. when I check mine for the first time the dipstick seemed to drag along the side adding oil to the dipstick. I freaked out when i saw this after my first oil change. I drained all the oil (let it sit so it could drain all out) and put in a new filter. I put 5 quarts back in and when I checked again i saw that the oil line on the dipstick was slanted. I just go by where the oil line is striaght.

The motor should be ok. I'd expect a free oil change on the spot from the dealer though.

in the service manual it say that an oil and filter change requires 5qt of oil. i garauntee that if you were to drain your oil and r&r filter. crank the car and run it let the car sit over night, and check it in the morning with out cranking the car your oil will read high on your dipstick, but as soon as you crank it and check it it will be perfect. i dont care what anyone says listen to me and you will be perfectly fine. i am a honda tech and this is the way it is supposed to be done. just crank your car run it for severeal seconds and check it after about 30 sec.

On that note I believe the issue has been addressed.

p.s.
Does honda also recommend leaving the altenator plug not plugged in after a valve adjustment? Haha jk.
