EGR problem... HELP!

EGR problem... HELP!
ok, i was coming home from school today and my CEL came on, so i had the code read, it was p1491 EGR valve lift insufficient. i have a 2000 accord dx. my question is what do i need to do to fix this, and are there any problems that could arrise from this if i cannot get it fixed soon? thanks!

you can take off the egr valve and clean it see if that helps. if it doesnt you are going to have to clean the egr passageways. which depending on the manifold there are different ways to do it.
do you know if you have the removeable rail on the top of the intake runners if so you are in luck. take it off and clean the egr.
if you dont have the removable rail you either have to pull out the plugs/ or drill. or use a liquid (seafoam/intake cleaner) and pour it into the passageways.
hope some of this helps and doesnt screw you up.

The EGR valve itself has a position indicator sitting directly on top of it that measure how far the valve has moved. If you are getting a CEL then either
#1 The valve is stuck so the sensor doesn't see it move
#2 The EGR vacuum line is off or leaking
#3 The solinoid that enables vacuum to the EGR isn't working
#4 Vacuum line that runs from the plenum to the solinoid is off or leaking
