Well I believe Ive finally come to terms with the fact that I need a new car. I love my teal teg, but shes an auto and Im in need of a hobby. I wanted to do a manual swap years down the line, but now Id rather just have a civic. A lil advice needed though.

I cant go a time without having a car. I have school 2 nights a week, and work 5 days a week. I can go a few days without a car, but not weeks.

Shes in really good shape, no rust at all, minor door dings, nothing bad or noticable unless your the owner, haha it always seems that way.
I'd be selling her as is with the stupid 17in rims she has on her. They were priced at 700 for just the rims when the owner first got them, I still have a receit. Ummmm, treads real good all the way around, 2 tires are very new, the others have at least half their life left. She's at 97kish, i took her in to some "professionals" at pacc auto when the check engine light came on at the usual 95k marker, I got everything squared away sept 2 things, a valve adjustment and I believe replace the fuel filter (but dont quote me on that second one, i forgot).

What I did: I tried cleaning the car up a bit, it looks like the previous owners were retarded with the acura emblems, they were both upside down and it was missing the acura name emblem. The front emblem broke while taking it off, the prongs wouldnt come out of the bumper so that ones gone but I replaced the rear emblems and painted them flat black to match the moldings and side skirt. Minor paint chips in the front, a lil dealeo next to the license plate that needs to be touched up. Ive also taken ONE of my rear seats out when I first got the car when I had thought I would later down the line do a swap. It's not gutted, the carpet and everything is there but its missing a seat in the back, it was broken by the previous owner, I couldnt flip it down so I took that seat out and left in the one that works. it was my plan so i didnt have to drive friends around, haha it worked.

Its got a nice sound system in it that i figure ill have to leave in to get a decent amount of money out of it. I listen to everything from grindcore to rap, it bumps no matter what your playing. its a single 12 in sub, its got all 4 new speakers, their nice, speakers sub and sub amp all rockford fosgate, and its got a new deck with an aux input in the front for ipod and zune.

Thats the good the bad and the ugly. I bought her around 86k before the maintenance was taken care of with new reg and smog for 4500. Im thinking I wanna put a price at 4grand firm. You guys think thats possible?

I plan on getting a civic coupe cause I dont think Ill be able to find a nice teg for 4 grand. Unless maybe I can find a cheap RS or LS, but I have no problem going with a civic thats newer. Oh, and whatever I choose, I FULLY intend on gtting a sick @ss paint job bg 33. Whether its a civic or teg. My buddys already getting a white lude, so I dont want a white car, the only other color for me is teal baby.

Cake? I talked with a few people about my situation when I was first deciding what to do way back when. Everyone was saying a manual swap would be too much work, many times its done incorrectly, and for the price of it and the labor, its not worth messing up the first time. I found prices for the parts for like 1500. My old managers buddy told him to tell me his shop would do it, parts AND labor I blieve, for 2 grand.

I cant do it myself and Im kinda skeptical about them having to cut into my car for just the clutch, let alone the shift **** linkage and everything else. In my mind i see it as a way bigger deal then a motor swap and that scared the **** out of me haha.

Like I said Im trying to make it my hobby, I dont know much yet so I wouldnt be able to start by myself nor do I know someone who could show ME how to do it. But i figure if i just go and get a manual i can start tinkering and pulling stuff apart, get things cleaned, get to know everything before I actually start putting money down. Instead of me paying another 2 grand ontop of the 4.5 for the car now making that 6.5 grand for a manual LS. I coulda have a decent GSR for that with like 150k miles I figure.

I dunno yet, everyones telling me the swap is gonna be more then I bargined for and I should just sell her as is and start with a manual.

yeah, paying someone might be kind of bad. I know the mounts and everything for the clutch are already there and I'm pretty positive the same goes for the shifter and all. If there's any cutting at all it's just a small hole in the firewall, but they built the chassis the same for both manual and auto.

Dude seriously... just sell your car and get a manual one. I'm not sure about where you live but here in the Bay, there's a ton of Civics/Integras for sale, and the majority of them are MT. It aint worth it to do a tranny swap IMHO (unless your a real wrench monkey).

There aint no sister/brother/aunt/mom/etc that you can borrow a car from until you get a new ride? Take public transit or something lol.

mmmmm Thanks, that one would be a god send. ive looked on craigs list and ive mailed a hand full of people about their civics. I only found 2 tegs worth calling on. Im putting my car up on other sites tomorrow, im going to put it on ht right now. My only problem is ima have to arrange to buy from someone who doesnt need to sell it right away. So I can find someone interested in mine, I can go like 2 - 3 days without a car but anymore and ima miss needed school.

Edit...

Well just got back from taking pictures of the car for a sale thread... I washed her 2 days ago.

My for sale threads up. Now to see about a few other websites. Ima go on auto trader, beep beep (cause they have that commercial), where else should I put my car up? Should I bother with modified autotrader?

LAME! I never knew sites like auto trader made you pay to have an ad for your car for 3 weeks. That kinda sucks haha. Well my cars here on h-t. I dont know how great of exposure its gonna get on there. Maybe Ill put a sign on the car.

Hey friends, well I posted on craigs list but my post got flagged. its the EXACT post i put on honda tech. I tried to ask why i got flagged but i need to be a member to do so. Im so confused why I got flagged, anyone know? All the pictures were to small to see the license sept ONE. Is that the problem or could it be something random?

Cause I saw people getting flagged for RANDOM ****. Like one girl selling 6 week old cats. yeah they had to be 8 weeks so she was flagged. yeah wtf? Maybe Because I forgot to post my middle name and all middle names are needed for cars? i dunno, im confused but I dont wanna sign my email up for ANOTHER account, im tired of spam.

^it's really not that hard to do a manual conversion, if your good with your hands atleast. research it a bit more and if you still feel like you can't take on the job then ask around at some shops in your area to see if they are willing to take on the job, once you have all the parts it's just a matter of swapping some stuff around.

thanks alot man, i really like what you have been doing with your teg, very tasteful and clean IMO.

thanks man, those were shot with the sigma "bigma" 50-500mm telephoto. i can't remember what apature i was shooting with on those pics but it must have been a higher once because it was the day time.

well guys, big step today, i finally bought rims!! if you guys knew me, i was always rolling on stock rims, first hubcaps for a while, then the polished hammerheads, then the stock jdm ITR's, but a buddy hooked these up! sorry just a teaser, i forgot to take full pics..lol

Ive not done ANY work on a car PERIOD. im just getting into it, I dont want my first project to be cutting into my car, maybe some cheap bolt on, but Im not down to cut into my car yet.

There is nothing local I have to get to the valley if I want a shop that will do something thats not "according to the book." My managers buddys shop would do it for 2 grand but I dont wanna spend 2 grand just to get it made manual. Id rather sell it and use that money to buy a manual.

that would be the easier solution honestly, however to convert it to manuel, there's no fab work involved as long as you got parts off of another integra, it should basically all bolt up. however if you are not used to working on your car then i woulden't suggest it. sucks you have to sell it tho

you don't actually haveto cut a hole. the auto's have a metal block off plate with some sort of relay bolted to it on the interior.

Epic, the swap is really easy. my car is an automatic and i looked into it heavily. everything is bolt together...i can walk you through it if you want...

Im going to talk to some of my friends tonight down in Diamond Bar, hes got a gti and does all his own work after taking auto in high school and like 2 yr college, Im gonna see if he'll help me out with it and Ill let you know, if I could do the swap that would be AMAZING because I really love the teal teg. Ill let you know cause if hes gonna help me out hes only got general knowledge, no honda swap knowledge so we'll need that walk through. but I am sure I can find one here or on TI, I just dunno how car sabby im actually gonna be once it gets down to it.

But if you guys think it can be done, i might just try.

i personally think it can be done, hell, when i first got my car i diden't know how to work on cars but i learned and look now, i built my own motor and swapped it myself. i did everything on my car myself, with the exception of paint and machine work. just take your time and be patient and don't 1/2 *** anything..lol...but most importantly, research!! there's PLENTY of walk-thru's on the net on how to swap trannys, and bleed brakes/clutches, you will be able to find anything; and if you can't, shoot me a PM with any questions you have and i'll find a link for you.

but thats my very problem. I dont have time or space. A buddy and I need a hobby, Ive got this teg, and he's getting a lude in about a week. We need something to do with our spare time instead of smoke pot so weve come to cars. I work and have school and this is my ONLY car. I have no other rides, and I am the family member with the extra car, I just gave it to my aunt.

I would LOVE to do a swap, and whether its done or not I still plan on doing EVERYTHING myself. I just dont think its a smart idea for a NOT experienced person to sit down with his only car and try to make it a manual within the matter of 2 days. Ontop of that I can drive stick but ive not knowned a stick nor driven a stick teg so I wouldnt even know if it felt right once i got her going.

Like I said I plan on getting down and dirty with my ride and learning EVERYTHING and I plan on doing motor swaps and making my own build TOP TO BOTTOM, but with NO experience, I dunno about pulling my car into my garage, that my moms car normaly uses, and trying basicly heart transplant her. Ya know.

That's how you learn. Try to make a friend who knows a bit more and get him to help you. It could very easily be done in within 2 days. I'm thinking more like 1. Its really easy. While I've not done the swap itself, I've had every single part involved in the swap out of the car on a few occasions. It really is as simple as, take a bolt out of a hole and put the bolt back in with the new part.
