The Official EF Discussion Thread
its actually saab dolphin gray. i had gotten samples of audi battleship gray and nimbus gray but on the day that i was supposed to pick up the battleship gray from the paint store, i saw a saab 93 with this color on it and i fell in love so i got a gallon of that instead. turned out awesome. i love the color.
if the clear is lifting, i would just feather it with 180, then watersand with 600 then finish sand with 1000. should be fine as long as you dont burn through the base coat.
i wanted to have it done by the end of summer, but the way funds are right now, ill be lucky to finish it by the end of the year. right now, i am just doing all the work that doesnt really cost any money like wiring and painting.
It was a 5 gallon. The logic for it rear facing was that under acceleration the fuel would be flowing in that direction.
That was about as far as it got. It would have taken a good 12 grand to get it track worthy and I knew I'd never see most of that money again. With a growing family, the house was a priority and better investment. Luckily, I stumbled across a clean sedan so I could keep loving on an EF.

here are the seat brackets i fabbed up in the car.

and heres the car when i picked it up. its come such a long way
Too bad that didn't work out. A guy in VA ended up buying it for $200. I was in a hurry to get it sold so we could move. He paid $800 to have it shipped out there. He got a steal because I had $1500 in just the cage and the fuel cell setup alone.
Some day I'd like to find me a beater EF so I can take the sedan off daily duty. I have to drive on a horrible section of interstate back and forth to work so she takes a beating. It's one of those elevated sections that is several miles long and it's falling apart, so much so that the entire thing is in the process of being replaced. About once a week a lane or two gets shut down so that they can patch big chunks that fall out, like this...

Yeah I'm kinda a fan of gray as well... lolol
Potholes hear in NY are terrible. calling them potholes is not doing them justice. Patch work around here ends up being a speed bump. I dream that one day we all will have smooth pavement to ride on..
This section of I-40 was built in 1965 and they say more of the surface is patch work than actual original interstate. Besides the possibility of having your car destroyed by a sinkhole, the surface is always filthy and covered with tons of debris. Last week I had a massive, baseball size chunk of rubber hit my windshield and I was amazing it didn't spider or crack. I wish I had a hood bra sometimes. I don't care for the trend, but the functionality would be nice.
**** is so expensive tho. i am probably about 3 grand away from being done with my rex and, correct me if i am wrong, but a complete jdm front end runs about 1500-2000. 3k or 5k to finish my car? hmm. i mean, i love the look of the jdm front end, but id rather buy a j's wing and a carbon fiber hatch. i think if i end up with a beater rex that i might try to piece together the jdm front but not on the track car.....even tho it is super tempting.
