But this is a car that was put together with function in mind first (and not that it looks bad) but esthetics are not the primary concern and you can tell it gets used how it should - hard. This is what I would like to have mine come close to. Heck at this point, I'd just like to be able to drive mine on the road.

Cheers to Red! Good work. Maybe get a plate that says 'USE DALY'.

yeah I would love to be able to drive my car hard right now. I need to replace a lot of bushing before I start doing this SCCA thing.

I'm debating if I should just buy another shell and track parts that one out and leave the white on as my daily. Or keep my beater and track car the white one.

I need new tie rod bushing, new lower control arms to accomidate the rear sway bar, possible a better suspension set up or use the current one I have and see how it works, I want to get new OE calipers and possibly slotted rotors.

I can't think of anything else I should look into replacing

I think you guys are more examples of the moderate HT EF owner. nice cars, nice pieces, built with a goal, but neither is a break the bank, financed by mom and Dad - build it just for rep, then sell it kind of car.

You and me both. Every thing I bought *car included* was from my hard earned money.

@ times I wonder what my car would look like or be if I still lived @ home. But then I remember what its like walking around my own house farting where and how long I want.

I was just thinking a couple of days ago.
I have been doing this stuff since 2002.

In fact when I sold my SOCH aem c.a.i. on craigslist. I met up with the guy and he was all crazy about jdm this jdm that. He was asking my opinion about him getting a JDM ZC intake manifold and if it was worth it. I was telling him don't worry about that. You'll just be watsing you money. There is no need for you to worry about how JDM your motor is if you have a kid. As long as it runs right. And then I thought about myself back in 02 when I first purchased my car. Its was a 90 DX. and I put a red stripe across and moudlings even though it was a 90. I even had 2 HX wheels that I painted gunmetal and slapped them on the rear dragger style.
I laughed @ myself a little bit

Just want to make sure I was clear there - I dont think either car was financed by mom and dad - both cars had hard work put in by the owners.

holy crap i wanna put a gold stripe on my car.

seriously. i have a sweet little pinstripe painted, i should do it...... i've always had a hankering to a pinstripe design on my hood.... would that be lame?

i'm with ya on this vega...i looked at the past registrations of my car and i bought this thing 7 years ago! i picked it up on my 19th birthday (had stupidly wrapped up my previous white EF standard hatch in a dumbass accident, my fault, was screwing around). i just turned 26 the other day... damn this little red pile has been following me around a long time.

i should come to california and hang out with some prettier cars. i need it to rub off on me.

The cops will find you before you find a pretty car.

Its good to have a car for that long and watch it grow with you.
I keep thinking the older I get will I keep driving my car as much as I do??
And it bothers me because I tend to think right now "I'm to old to be driving around a little civic" just because I think of what other people are probably saying. Gets kind of discouraging. I feel like I need to buy a lexus or something to even out that fact that I drive a 90 civic.

Oh well we will see as time goes

I'm 26 too

Dude...my pops is 55 and drives a souped up civic. Granted, he has adult cars, but I hear a bit of what you're saying. I go to Eibach and see gangstas still. I feel like I'm too old for the scene, but it will mature.

I wouldn't get too discouraged though. I drive my other fixed up CRX to work every day in a suit. My co-workers are probably thinking..."I thought that guy was in administration and made decent money."

Who the f*ck says I HAVE to drive a Bimmer or Lexus?

picked up that B16 transmission...found out why it was so cheap...the guy bought a rusted out CRX from a guy for $100...it had a B16a in it and an LSD transmission...apparently the former owner didn't know...but he replaced the syncros in the transmission i bought and said that if there is any grinding he'd replace the syncros, i'd just have to buy parts

i dont think i'll ever sell my car, and i wont need a daily ever, most likely (work truck at work, ride S&M next-gen Holmes to work every day, or walk). i'm thinking of selling my wife's CRV and picking up a SWEET slammed 00" TL that a buddy is selling for a good deal.

that might be our "nice" car then. i'll still take my car every chance i can...drove it to michigan the day before the trackday the pics were taken at. still gets 30 MPGs and isnt alll that loud inside
