The Official EF Discussion Thread
Well I ordered a brand new TOB, shift fork, spring, bolt and washer. Next up is a clutch alignment tool. You guys think I even need one? It's weird because now I'm thinking I do since when I put my clutch on (motor/trans out of car) I kind of eyeballed it and the shaft slid in fine -- I hope thats why my TOB didn't go out. Or it could be due to the fact that I was blatantly lied to about the condition of the TOB
I'm kind of amazed that it worked by eye balling it. If you can get an alignment tool, it would be easier. My guess is the TOB was bad from the start. The clutch has to be aligned for it go together, otherwise the clutch would not slide on the input shaft. And the pressure plate is automatically aligned because of the pins that go into the flywheel. I'd replace the TOB spring as well while you're in there
also be sure to use plenty of grease on the TOB and the shaft. That's right, I said shaft.

Will do. I usually grease the whole thing but are there any spots I'm missing? Anyone know where I can see some pics?

u're going to make a mess doing it that way, put the grease on the other end

Not really hard to eyeball it. Specially when the shaft slides in. I'm told you can finger tighten the clutch, slide the shaft in, take it out, tighten the bolts, slide it in again to confirm and you're good. Of course this is all much easier when the motor is out of the car ergo only made easier by using a clutch alignment tool. And no worries on the spring; I got the TOB, fork, spring, bolt and washer new from Honda
My beater while my babys down

It's my dads sedan. He owns a limo business so its all Caddys in the family
Big props to him for letting me borrow it

Can I just say I think its so weird at the diversity of the EF community and Honda community. For example, Boosted Chemist is a chemist. That is so foreign to me I would have never thought a chemist to be into EFs lol. I, myself, am an English major in school graduating in May then pursuing my masters. I wait tables at Outback Steakhouse and I like to have a good time.
What can other EF owners in here say about themselves? I'm amazed at the diversity! I really am. Get it all out there -- what do you guys do?

Im really thinking about getting back into waiting again, good quick money
A haven't found ANY chemist with intrests in cars, trust me its a weird field.

and by night? or shouldn't i ask?
I'm a Project Manager for Commercial Construction Co. I have a degree in Construction Management.
thenick: you could probably get a clutch alignment tool from a local Honda dealer, but it sounds like your method works just as well. And I wouldn't call the caddy a "beater" lol

Quick Question
Does anyone know if the internals of an LS distributor are the same between different OBD versions? I need an OBD1 specifically, but saw an OBD0 version for sale. I know OBD 1 and 2 just have different plugs basically, but what about an OBD0?
EDIT: Still searching, seems the coil may be different?

On obd0 there is 16 tooth pick up for the cps
on obd 1-2 there is 24 tooth, so if u use a obd0 on obd1 at one turn the car thinks its only 3/4 turns
