negative ghost writer the pattern is empty. if your timing belt snapped, a minimum of 8 valves in the zc head made a collision with pistons. your best bet is to pull the head, rotate your motor over, look for damage to the top of the pistons. if the look ok, put your a6 head on, and send your zc head to a machine shop to get checked out.

Did your timing belt pop on the a6 also or are you just replacing it?

alright, i just took it apart and saw the ripped timing belt.
and now the a6 was fine i just wanted something with less miles. and i didnt replace the timing belt when i got the engine, i know im an idiot but you have to learn somehow right?
so i dont need any rant on how i should have i now know. so now i start ripping apart the engine to put the a6 head on if more things arent broken.

Don't know if this will give you hope, but I had a timing belt snap on me in my zc and not a darn thing happened. I even cranked over thinking it was something else. I just placed the timing on with a new belt and it started perfectly like nothing happened. IT was a sohc zc.
well my friend also bought a sohc zc and we gave our self a weekend to put em in. got mine going fine, his took a little cause its a std. than he got it going and five min later the belt slipped like 8 teeth or something. went to a mechanic and all he did was put it to where it was suppose to be and said the belt and valves were fine. and i looked at the valves and they look fine. but im going to take it to a shop to get it checked

Your timing belt snapping doesn't mean your engine went bad just your timing belt needed to be changed...well thats pretty obvious cuz it broke
As long as you knew it broke and didn't keep trying to turn it over after your engine cut off the your engine should be fine.
Keep trying to start it while the belt is off and you start bending valves

That's exactly what my dumbass tried to do. I tried to start it thinking something else went wrong.
Anyways, here is a dirty pic of my whoopdie at work.

****** hilarious how i only hear about this kind stuff in base model. who the hell wants to maintane a d15b2
mine snapped while on the 805 freeway doing about 75. I was in the slow lane and lucky as hell I didn't reach the hill yet. I didn't know what happen and tried to start it while I was still slowly rolling on the freeway.
i think I cranked it about 7 times so that motor was gone

Know how you feel. It happened to my b16 with headwork and cams. Was going 70mph with b16 tranny so like 4200 rpms and it just shut off. I tried to start it a couple times and that's when the rain came. Ended up to be 9 bent valves. This is why only buy toda timing belts.

Is it me or does it look like #2 is cracked? if not, thenur fine.
Look at the exhaust valve relief near the drop of coolant/water and the top of the valve relief on the intake side near the cylinder wall.
