they also have a company in the states that makes them.

last time i checked they were only offering the ecotec motor, and ecotec supercharged.

but now i think they got enough people to get the k20R and k20R supercharged in the US.

Last time I was in Laguna Beach I saw a yellow Ariel Atom. For the record, Leno is single handedly responsible for Ariel putting an Ecotec in the Atom. He saw it, wanted one, but didn't want a Honda motor in it. So, he contacted GM, one of the engineers (apparently they use the term "engineer" loosely) bought one and ended up working out a deal with Ariel.

Anyway, the Atoms can be street legal if you purchase the right options. It's easiest if you import them without a motor, though. I know of a guy in Tulsa that had one imported through Houston without a motor. He had Extreme Autosports fully build an NA K20A for it and put it in. He promptly TOTALLED on the service road leaving the shop. He was going too fast for his driving skill level obviously.

I think you can get one and purchase a motor for close to $50k. Do yourself a favor and go to youtube.com or google video and type in "top gear ariel atom." You'll thank me later.

JDM thing yes, ricers i don't know about that. since this "ricer" definition is kind of thrown around, but there cars tend to be more "real deal" then ours in the US

The atom should not even be driven without a helmet. Any rock in this thing is like a bullet being shot at you. Anyone who dont think the price is worth it. Finy any car in its price range and put in any test you want and see who comes out on top.
