i loved that car until he bought it. i tried to buy it from gary but a buyer surfaced before i could finish a deal with him...so i imported one. the new owner i believe is going down the right path but i haven't seen pics of it since it left wisconsin.

oh well...it's just a car.

yeah but then you have to use the hasport hydro mounts set.

the bracket that attaches to the top of the trans to hold the cable is a ******* joke. it has around 3/8 of an inch of deflection when the pedal is depressed. i would take a 92-93 cable tranny over using that mount set any day. hydro internals/replaceability/rebuildability/parts availability and not needing that shitty mount set.

there are till cable trannies to be had. maybe youre right though, vega_boner would have a lot of trouble. cable b16 swaps are like 1700 bucks. hell im old, i remember when they were 8 bills at MMRUSA in like 98. the Z6 swaps were like 250 bucks complete. but yo ucould get those out of the autozone dumpsters on saturday nights from all the 800 dollar b16 swaps that were going on. the obd1 swap was a grand. the gsr was about 1400. itr was 2800 and the h22 was like 2 grand.

<sigh>

the good old days....

Damn I think the hardest part of owning a car is that not everyone is going to dig what you like. Is this bad? What makes something so great? I dont know I have met people on here that only talk **** and dont have really anything positive to say. True eddies car wasnt as crazy clean as some hatches on here but damn guys!!! Just because someone doesnt do what you do doesnt make them anyless. I think when you take this to serious it just losses its fun, thats just me. The last few pages of this thread made me sick I hate how negative the honda scene is and probably always be.

its a toss up...I consider most of the stuff on my car "extra credit", "the icing" if I were to say...**** I have always wanted and knew I would not run across again if so not for as cheap as I got it. I have a Gen.2 b16a already. But with all the issues I'm having with my z6 I want to make sure that when I put the B in everything is perfect to the T. Hydro tranny and mounts...waste of money as far as I'm concerned. Cable tranny and replacement parts, although slim now a days, is best.
I'm just waiting for a garage b4 I go gun-hoe on the ED again like I did. I did some microwave **** on it first round but 2nd round I'm going to let it cook slow on the grill.

If your gonna post pictures, pump up, ***** out anything on H-T, guarantee somebody will have something to say. The **** with eddie, although to him he make think it personal its not. Yeah his rims were bad *** but did his car complement the rims...but no means it did not. Could it have been done better...IMHO hell yes it could have. do I have room to talk...no I don't but like anyone else I can comment and bring out the things I think should be improved. If he decided to take the advice its on him...I don't hate the guy nor his car. I just think a lil more "heart" could have been put into it seeing what all he had on it. But you work with what you can.
Like I said...there is a difference in building a car certain genre crowd fan base...his car refliected that. **** some people might say the same about mine.

Well said. I've rushed too many cars/projects and owned a wide range of Honda's, but I finally found me a clean EF hatch, a body style I always wanted to build. This time I'm taking my time, sourcing the parts I've always wanted, learning patience (though it's a struggle), and building the car I've always wanted, regardless of the newest trends in app/cos.

i'm kinda hung up on this hydro swap deal. i'm getting set to do this because the cable stuff is hard to find, especially the short geared jdm tranny parts. i even have a type r hydro tranny waiting to go in.

it seems like now i'm hearing some smack talk on this, and i'm second guessing my decision. what do you guys think about this?

If you have or can find a cable tranny bell housing you can always put those Type-R gears in there. Personally I prefer cable, so that would be the best of both worlds for me.

A friend of mine has a cable tranny with Type-R gears in his DA. It's a lot of fun.
