did you ever get to do that write up??

No I've been slacking. I'll probably do it this weekend.
We had no rain here in the last like 45 days until this week. Now that the NASA Championships are here this weekend, we got nothing in the forecast but rain until Tuesday. So I will probably be indoors all weekend. Looks like COD4 and power window writeup time.

Its really easy for everyone to say weld & grind when they dont have to actually spend the time doing the grinding
I vote for seam weld, who cares if it is ground smooth...
Nice to see the build pics too

I think a nice clean bead of seam sealer and weld everything on the firewall shut
I like the very clean OEM look over the 8million man hour shaved bay look. just my opinion tho.
what kind of seam sealer are people using if they do re-do it? any suggestions?

^^^agreed! is that safe tho... i mean i know its not going to just explode!! but im saying for overal strength. i just assume if they put it on sealer, something similar should take its place.. if not, that'll be the way to go for sure!!
The sealer doesn't effect safety, it just keeps moisture from getting between the layers of sheet metal. I guess if it got in there and it rusted, it could potentially effect safety/rigidity.

Im sure with a good paint job, the primer sealer would fix that. Not to mention the reason crx rust out is hte seam sealer being an open foam type that traps in moisture and leads to rust.

It was a complete running crx! Yes I had a dx/si intake but that went in the trash last week DOH!
Woody showed me how to burn out the seam sealer. See the burn marks
. Stitch weld would be cool, but im not just gunna do the bay(ricer!), id have to do the whole car and cut out all the seam sealer... My setup in my grey crx was crazy stiff.... I dont really want to stiffen it up anymore (I just dont think it needs it, even on track!).
I think im gunna re seam the hood latch, and firewall area... thats crucial for water. But in the front area there is no need for it, its garaged and well taken care of. Ill ask Woody if the primer, base, and clear will seal it, if so ill just do that. I think it will look cool, and way cleaner than that goop they do from the factory!
Yesterday I had about an hour and cleaned out the car of all the sound deadlining material (heavy for what it is!), and I burned the seam sealer off around the hood hinges.

wow!! Normally nobody has this statistic! Look how far forward the eng sits
Kinda odd</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah, I thought the same thing. I am going to call Hondata, and talk to this guy, and find out more. I just got off the phone with Hasport. It appears to be their mounts, but something is obviously going on there. My friend at Hasport if he knew anything about it, and if could ask Keith about it? He knew nothing of the car so Hopefully Keith will know something I know they were there for speedweek, and blew an engine in their insight. I figured you would appreciate that info.

We hit it with the propane torch then used the wire wheel. It was like butter.

How do you get those pieces up high by the foot rest on the firewall off? That is killing me
