Quick question for those running aftermarket fuel pumps:

Would a Walbro fuel pump for an EG work in an EF? My friend gave me one for free and I might put it in tomorrow...

I think it would...I believe (I could be wrong) that most of their pumps are the same...its the cars specific pick up or mounting hardware thats different... I would hate to install a used pump and have it fail...especially since the walbros seem to be so finicky...and new ones are so cheap.

They are kinda known for it...especially in mustang applications... Alot of it has to do with people running the pumps on empty tanks. They heat up and burn out...this can happen with any fuel pump...but the Walbros seem to be more prone to heat failure.

I don't know I put a Walbro 190LPH in my car 2 years ago...and have ran it empty twice since... both times in a Jack In the Box drive though ... Still haven't had a problem with it... on the other hand a buddy who installed the same pump the same day as me in the same kind of car... never ran it empty and his failed within 6 months...replaced it and that one failed within the next year...

my dad is on his 3rd in his fox body mustang... I have a few more close expierences with failed walbros...

I've been running my 190 lph for over 6 years without a problem. I've known since day one not to let the tank get below 1/4 and I never have. When on track, I never let it get close to 1/4 tank due to the fuel sloshing around.

I've never had a problem with my 255lph walboro. I've run it near "E" MANY times. The only thing I've noticed weird about it, is that is makes a strange gurgling noise when it primes a low tank. I've been running the same pump since mid 2004.
