Picking up a set hopefully this week, anyone have any pointers?

why not keep it the fluted lenses and see how it comes out? just make sure the lense are very clean. would you be able to find clear glass lenses off an aftermarket headlight set? honda tuning had an article about sanding plastic lenses for HIDs. Rhandy had retrofitted HIDs in his CRX/EF hatch. didnt know if they were effective or not though.

I'm with g2_teg_ and 408wdy. Sure, that $450 exhaust has nice fit and finish, but something custom that costs 1/4 the price and gives the same performance... seems like a no brainer to me. As far as I can tell, the only advantage to the expensive one is that it looks better when the car is on a lift. Woopty-doo. The money you save could buy a lot of race tires...
Just my opinion.

Yea it is nice to save some cash and do things yourself like that exhaust. But you have to remember if you dont have to the resources to do it (welder, chop saw, exhaust bends, etc etc or know how to get them) then its gonna be kinda tough to accomplish it, lol. Im sure some people find the extra money for a quick, hassle free bolt on installation to be worth it.
Personally id do it all myself though.

I really enjoy doing things like that myself. I've made all the exhausts for my crx. My 3" turbo exhaust with one resonator that exited the stock location, and this current one. Granted, thats only two...but how many different exhausts are really needed? got rid of the turbo setup/motor so I made a 2.5" for my all motor b18b. which by the way, after about 600 miles is now getting over 30mpg!

i've never understood that attitude. Instead of spending $500 for an exhuast, spend $120 on materials. If you dont have a reciprocating saw, buy one ($80). Buy a welder, rent one.
Then when you are done with your exhaust you've spend like ~$600 total. but you have added a cheap welder, a sawzall, and a few other tools to your shed. Your next exhaust will cost $120 total! or roll cage, or whatever.
Here's some pics of my CRX from today:

i still need to grind the welds smooth. But it started raining, so i through some primer on and i'll grind them down this week.

That should be cool, in the process of doing some dudes eg b16a swap, I got a full rhd obd1 harness (ecu, motor and fuse box complete), i plan on making a nice harness for the crx and losing all obd0 bs

Think a little more in depth about it and maybe one day you might. Theres more to it than just having the correct tools and materials and thats experience or the "know-how."
BTW, welding to bare unpainted metal is preferred isnt it? I can still see a black painted surface inside those holes on your motor mount bracket, or is it just me?
