haha, try explaining to your dad that you want to build a mid 12 second vehicle... then try to explain why said vehicle could probably dyno around or pretty well above 500whp with your planned setup.

and you can build a fast n/a SOHC... I believe the fastest one was in the 11's somewhere. though being realistic, DOHC is pocket friendly when it comes to modding for high goals.

LOL damn James you crack me up. But yeah he's never seen an actual swapped car up in person, I tried showing him picture's from my friend's hatch's but he think's they're photoshopped or something. He say's there's no point in doing all this crap to my hatch unless I'm a "racer" but little does he know that I'm going to be a drag race/road race ***** once I'm done with my car.

And yes I've seen some high power/fast sohc's on sohc forum's but he think's all you have to do is bore out the motor add some cam's/camshaft's and you're good to go with a 120whp hatch!

i think you would make a lil more than 120 w/ a bore and some internals...i'm pretty sure my bro's old crx was pullin around 140-160 w/ a bore and a beefy *** gude cam..and head work...plus some tuning...but hey do what you gotta do....in the latest issue of honda-tuning there is a sohc build that pulled about 140 more or less...to the wheels

X2, a SOHC VTEC can make decent power with those mild mods if you do it right. You'll be more than happy with that swap. I'm tellin you... KEEP THE HATCH!

You have no idea how much you will miss it... hence the reason why I am still always on this thread, without a hatch. lol I know I will be getting another one towards the end of this year and "doing it right".

best way to get your point across is to let your dad know your goals with your car. that way, regardless of what he says or does he will hopefully realize regardless of what you get it will be modded to fit and achieve your goals. just be sure to show him that you are willing to learn what it takes to achieve your goals.

also for road racing a 120whp hatch is plenty seeing as compltely stripped out it weighs under a ton.. drag is where it would suck, though not as much as one would expect.

I have omnis. I dont like them well actually its not that i dont like them, more like they were dissappointing. but then again, im dumped on them and got a sweetdeal.

And charlie if you can't go dohc , sohc is just as good mang. Dont hate. Homie did low 14s with just basic bolt ons on his d16z6, but of course he was gutted. No slicks. Go w/ the f22 sohc.

You can be happy that he's paying for the swap or just keep your car and get nothing new at all I would be happy if anyone offered me a swap right now

Sounds like a good decision, I would do a K20 swap into the hatch it the swap wasn't so expensive. The motor is cheap (for my stand point), it's getting someone to swap it in properly being the problem. I think I can get a USDM Type-R to pass smog

Even JDM motors, but its not smog that you have to worry about. its the State ref and getting the BAR sticker. But still USDM is still easy for that.
