but you do want a little slack to make up for imperfections in the chain ring and so you're not killing the sprocket....

i run with just enough slack to not drop the chain.
when you're super tight, it's like you're running a way lower gear.
had to put some race blades on my bike today, tired of riding in the rain and getting a wet ***/back stripe of dirt.

But I don't like when I feel slack when standing, it's very annoying to me. I'll replace the steel cog if it comes to it, I've got plenty
