when my FTP had rear hed3, front radially laced deep V to da7600, deda pista bar setup, turbo saddle, and miche supertype saddle + full sugino 75 drivetrain it weighed in at 17lbs
even

food for thought. it's not super light. not super heavy either

i could def save weight with my wheel choice, carbon bars + seatpost + non leather seat

weight is really only a factor on going up hills. flat land, weight is negligible imho

My new bike
I dont have a scale but i Love it
Ive wanted this bike for 2 years now and it feels good to finally own it.
I still need to get some parts but for right now ive been swapping my pedals and rear wheel lugs back and forth.
But you can def tell the difference between steal and aluminum both in weight and responsiveness

zipp rims are awesome. But expensive.
I don't get why some people like the aerospoke rims, they're heavy as hell.

it's because of the "look" . they are brightly colored often and have 5 spokes. but their functionality is obviously lacking as apparent from ALL the pro teams using aerospokes on the track / during time trials .

u can/could* sand it off, down to carbon and reclear the fork . i dont think there is a paint thinner which will be able to remove the paint and not damage the existing clear coat

I'd say leave it, looks good as it matching the rest of the bike.

Also if you remove all the paint it may not be the carbon you are use to It might be just raw carbon not weaved carbon which could look kinda funny if it shows half weaved and half raw. Im no expert though its just my opinion. You could just buy anotehr fork that is already that way.

Oh and nate are you riding clipless now? what did you do with your old pedals, clips, toestraps? and thanks again for helping me out.

That is insanely awesome! I just bought a set of Ellipses... Would've been sweet to find a rear wheel to swap rims.

Question: What tires do you guys recommend? There's a lot of hype around Gatorskins, worth it?

I've been riding Armadillos elites. Downside theyre 60 bucks a pop but man they are effin awesome.

I've had one tube switched in the past 4 months, and that was due to a staple near a construction area. Other than that it's all good, I even take my baby on some dirt/gravel roads during one of the local urban rides.

You might notice a hint more rolling resistance, but the grip in the wet and the traction overall is awesome. There have been many times where I take turns fast, hit a puddle, start to drift and fall, correct the steering and off you go without falling.

that saddle angle is scary. go get a pro bike fit at a respected shop. you spent a couple grand on the bike, go spend $50 or $100 on getting fit.
