You could use any track hub, and it would be an improvement. You could get something cheap, like formula , velocity, grand compe hubs, anything would work. The grand compes spin well too. The new velocity hubs are different than the older ones, theyre making them with better bearing setup now. Profiles are about the lightest hub, and theyre made really well, but not a "cheap" hub..
gran compes spin like butter for the price, best bang for the buck is formula. when the stock bearings crap out replace em with phil bearings and you have a budget phil hub ad a fraction of the weight.
profiles are in no way the "lightest" hub. but they are built rock solid.

the numerous low flanges (dura-ace, campy record), american classics, chubs. if you really look they can easily be found. the ones you named were all high flanges
phils are notorious for being heavy

thats true, but every non deep rim just looks the same to me .. I get bored easy. I think Im selling my ellipses soon though , Ive always been in love with Suzue pro max disco hubs , so I might build them up, bladed spokes, not sure which rim.
niether haha.
but the promax come in two models. one loose ball and the other sealed bearings.
but the d-a hubs spin for DAYS. id prefer the classic silver and black tho

theres someone local selling a nos set of the pro max, but i want 32h, i have a feeling the pro max's are 36, so thatll make my decision for me . Nothing Id say beats the ellipses, but I get bored of things and like odd parts .
Got my rollers in this morning. so much fun. took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to stay on the thing but after that I pretty much got it. Can do it no handed too haha
97 gsrski, now that you can do no handed, practice one footed no handed.
stretchy stretch, did you know the previous owner or did you jus buy it from him ? cause he put A LOT, i mean A LOT of miles on that bike.

Yeah , Im sure there would be a few people to laugh at it , but then want one too haha . When its moving fast, I think it looks kinda cool, and for sure people would see you at night.
^ Holy raver bike batman!!
97gsrki, what kind of rollers/for how much did you end up getting? I actually came to the thread to catch up and see if anyone had any suggestions on rollers, itchin for someting to work on my spinning once rainy season starts here.
P.s. gotta get up in five hours and head out to this (After riding a 40 mile round trip commute + critical mass + 8 hours of peddicabbing last night...ughh):

Off to the sack on that note...
