((((((((----EG Hatch Thread----PT 2 )))))))))
I'm on Tokico Illuminas. Stiffness is 4 in the front and 5 in the rear.
Bump stops were cut ages ago.
Another issue that Gabe brought up is that the front and rear ride height will vary greatly if I run just springs without adjusted perches.
Sup guys, caught a plane at a silly hour on the weekend to go and pick up a friend's new EG project and road trip it back home.

This is what ground controls/koni yellows with 0 threads looks on my eg hatch. I thinks it's even a turn or two more than when the bottom of the sleeved red threads are flush with the bottom of the yellow perch. I was reading on a bmw forum, guys with ground controls were taking out the black rubber seat/positioner (not sure what you call it) that sits on top of the coil and had zero issues, and this gave them another 3/8" or so of drop. Ground controls just arent designed to go very low. The rear should have plenty of threads to go as low as you want, the fronts ran out real quick.

Gc coils are designed to do whatever you want them to do. They come in different rates, heights and designs for the same car depending on what you want to do with them and what shock you're mounting them on. On an OEM style shock (kyb gr2 is an oem replacement shock) they won't go that low without removing the sleeve. On a koni yellow, which is a shorter shock, they're obviously going to go lower. If they're mounted on an koni yellow specifically designed for the GC coilover they will go extremely low.
Oh, okay. I guess I always seemed to read in forum threads how if you want to be dumped, stay away ground controls because you can't go that low on them which led me to believe it was true.

So I was watching this guy at the "TED" convention talking about making life changes and "doing something/anything for 30 days" and I was pretty inspired. Starting in Nov., I'm going to to work on my car everyday for 30 days. (At least 30/45 mins during the week and an hour + on the weekends.) The goal is to have my motor completely cleaned, painted, assembled, lubed, tq'd and ready for installation into the EG.
I still need to get K-Pro and have my bay painted before I can move forward, but I need to do something or it'll just continue to sit in my garage collecting dust...
I'll start a thread for it for sure.

This is with about 8-10 threads left I'd guess.

Still need to figure out the other three corners of the car.

I still have to spray the other hood, but I think I like the way the rusted hood flows with the new color. Call me crazy.

I just sanded it down so it's nice and smooth. Most people, in person, don't even realize that it's rust.
