stop being so honda-tech people!! it seems like this is turning to "omg look at what i have in my car, its cool!!!!" anyone can buy a bunch of parts, but putting on a bunch of parts isn't what a real tuner does, a real tuner builds a balanced car.

Default Re: (91 crx savage)

built lsv engines are perfectly safe up to 9k. RS ratio only affects sidewall load, since the pisotn dwells less at TDC, so after time, the cyl. walls become oval-shaped because of sidwall load. however, this does not mean a piston is going to shoot through the block.

more of a concern is piston speed. while a lower RS ratio means piston speed is faster on the down stroke, the main cause of higher piston speed is length of stroke. Speed = distance/time. obviously an ls crank covers more distance at any given rpm than a gsr.

however, ls-vtec motors with proper mods are perfectly capable of spinning 9k rpm in a street/drag configuration since these motors are not held at 9k rpm for long durations of time.

i would go with the string method. take a piece of string and wrap it around the pulleys. mark that and take it to your local parts shop. they can measure up the string to the belt.
