Ok so in my quest for a new unique set of wheels I have given up on finding some and figured I'd just get what I wanted made for me. Now I have been trying to contact ROTA about having them make me a set of 16 inch Carbon fiber(And no not real Carbon, just as the color choice) J-mags. I mean i know it can be done and it is a little bit pricey, but just wondering if anyone has tryed this before..................

Thanks

Do you really think Rota will have the tooling to do composites work? If they do, a wheel spoke carries quite a bit of torsional and static load, and composite structural analysis is complex and weave design and pattern as well as ply angle are very important to its integrity. In other words, you need to realize that it will probably be VERY expensive due to engineering costs.

(so that I'm not misunderstanding, you want a wheel with carbon fiber spokes, or a standard issue JMAG with the spokes overlaid with carbon?)

I hear ya on that. My next/current projects are on hold while I save for a home. Its freakin' rediculous out here, especially in the South Bay area.

LoL Yes Digital Horizon carbon fiber as an overlay, I guess I should have specified. But I guess some people are that silly to expect something like a 100% carbon wheel.

I've seen carbon fiber staircases, chairs, tables, suspension arms, and yes, even a wheel prototype before. All in the same place, designed and manufactured by the same people. Its not that outlandish in my line of work, so I thought just maybe someone would want to do it. I figured I'd give you the benefit of the doubt and not assume you couldn't afford it or that you were talking out of your ***, so I asked. Your exact words were "...have ROTA make me a set of carbon fiber JMAGs..." so I replied based on that.

I think you might have as much luck with some other places that deal with CF and not the wheel company. I think there's a vendor on here that can do that for you (carbonall I think is his name?)

haha I didn't take the job there, but I did get a carbon fiber coaster that I had in my room for a while... I think my fast and ferocious ricer cousin stole it though because it disappeared.

They have carbon fiber toilets now don't they? That's the epitome of Honda-tech attitude:

WHY?

"Because I can... and because you can't."

Yea, I'm renting here in Gardena trying to save some money. If you open up a Roth IRA account(retirement investment), you can pull out $10K without a penalty for a first time home purchase. A one bedroom condo in Torrance goes for about $400K

Ah Sylmar, made some money there on a weekly basis back in the days. Do you remember a black DA that had a busted tail light?
